Thuja tree line reduction for one of our regular clients nr Pewsey, Wiltshire.
The trees were starting to fail, up rooting with tops breaking out in strong winds, we’ve removed enough to reduce the sail effect when squalls hit, whilst also leaving enough to continue an effective wind break for the house and gardens.
We’d left one specimen tree on the end of the line, only reducing its crown by 1.5m, whilst keeping a natural shape, its protected by the Beech behind, now it’s a lovely feature tree!

Big old roadside Ash fell in Tormarton, this old girl had severe die back and was rotten at the base, so had to go, a real shame. 🌳
If she was in a woodland we’d of advised it stay to decay at its own pace, provided an amazing habitat for years to come.
All done in time for the estate to cultivate the osr stubble and get next years crop in the ground.

Although this old veteran Oak had decay in the base and lower stem, she was hanging on in there quite happily, until…the dreaded drought and heat, which is truly devastating our tree stock. 🌳
Summer branch drop is a very real risk on these old girls, and we believe that’s what made the track side section fail.
We were called in to fell the remaining tree due to heavy footfall on both sides. 🌳

The fractured tear and root plate will be retained for the little beasties to still call home, albeit a slight downsize! 🪳🐛🦟🪲🕷️
