πŸŽƒ Ding-dong… nobody there? Must be that time of year again!

Halloween is just around the corner, and we all know what that means: little witches and superheroes on the doorstep, a mountain of sweets, and at least one mystery doorbell-ringer who's mysteriously vanished by the time you open the door. πŸ‘»

Most of it is harmless fun, and we love seeing the costumes. But here's the more serious bit. The weeks between Halloween and Bonfire Night often bring a rise in late-night mischief: eggs on windows, fireworks let off near buildings, a bit of graffiti, or someone "just having a look" over a fence after dark. With the clocks going back on Sunday 25 October, the evenings draw in fast, and that gives opportunists more cover.

The good news? A few quick checks now can save a lot of hassle later. πŸ‘‡

βœ… Are your cameras pointing where they need to? Front doors, car parks, gates and bin stores are the usual hot spots.
βœ… Is your outdoor lighting working? A well-lit building is far less tempting.
βœ… Do you know how long your recordings are kept? Worth checking before you need the footage, not after!
βœ… Are your cameras visible? Often, simply seeing a camera is enough to send pranksters on their way.
βœ… Is your business empty overnight? Remote monitoring, mobile patrols and keyholding mean someone's keeping an eye on things while you're tucked up at home.

As a family-run business, we've been looking after homes and businesses across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex since 1996. From CCTV and intruder alarms to monitoring and mobile patrols, we've got everything under one roof, and we're always just a phone call away. πŸ“ž

Now, over to you! πŸ‚

We've seen some brilliant CCTV moments over the years: foxes pinching gardening gloves, cats who think they own the car park, and delivery drivers with some very impressive doorstep dance moves. πŸ¦ŠπŸ•Ί

πŸ‘‰ What's the funniest or most surprising thing your camera has ever caught? Tell us in the comments. We'd love to hear your stories (keep it friendly, and no need to share anyone's face!).

And if you'd like a quick once-over of your security before the dark nights properly set in, give our friendly team a call for a free site assessment.

Ever tried to get hold of the person in charge at a big security company? πŸ“ž

At ADP, you won't need to try very hard. πŸ‘‹

We were founded in 1996 by Alan Day, and 30 years later we're still an independent, family-run business. The difference? The people running ADP aren't tucked away in a head office at the other end of the country. They're here in Petersfield, involved in the business every single day.

Our company is led by a hands-on director who sets our direction and keeps a close eye on quality and compliance, backed by a small, close-knit management team looking after our engineers, sales, accounts and day-to-day operations. It's a team that knows our clients, knows their sites and knows exactly who to call when something needs sorting.

It also means we can be flexible. If your needs change, whether that's extra guarding cover over a busy period, an upgrade to an ageing alarm system or new access control for a growing team, we can talk it through with you and agree a plan quickly, without waiting weeks for sign-off from somewhere else.

So why does it matter who's at the top? Here's what it means for you:

βœ… Real accountability. Nothing gets lost in a chain of command. The people with the authority to put things right are only ever a phone call away.

βœ… Quick decisions. No faraway head office, no waiting for approval from people who've never met you. Most things can be agreed in one conversation.

βœ… Standards led from the top. Our SSAIB, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and SIA Approved Contractor accreditations aren't just certificates on a wall. Quality and compliance are part of how we're run, every day.

βœ… A relationship, not a reference number. You'll deal with people who remember you, your building and what matters to you.

That personal touch is something the big national firms find hard to match, and it's something we're really proud of. πŸ’™

Whether you need CCTV, access control, intruder or fire alarms, gates and barriers, mobile patrols or manned guarding, it's all under one roof at ADP, with a leadership team that's always just a phone call away.

Fancy a chat about your site? We'd love to hear from you. Book a free, no-obligation site assessment with our team today.

πŸ•°οΈ The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, and soon it'll be dark by 5pm.

Darker evenings make it easier for opportunist burglars to go unnoticed, so now's a great time to make sure your home or business is ready for winter. A few quick wins:

πŸ’‘ Put lamps on timers so the house doesn't sit in darkness
πŸ”¦ Light up the front door, side passage and driveway
πŸ”” Test your alarm and check the keypad isn't showing any faults
πŸ”‘ Lock uPVC doors with the key, and keep keys away from the letterbox

Is your alarm overdue a service, or was it fitted by a company that's no longer around? We regularly take over and maintain systems installed by other firms.

πŸ‚ Having an autumn clearout? Check these 5 security basics while you're at it!

It's that time of year β€” leaves to sweep, hedges to trim and yards to tidy before winter rolls in. And while you've got the gloves on, it's the perfect moment to give your security a quick once-over too. 🧀

Here's our simple five-point checklist:

πŸ“· 1. Clear the view around your cameras
Hedges, trees and climbing plants have had all summer to grow β€” and they love creeping into camera shots. A quick trim makes sure your CCTV can actually see what it's meant to.

πŸ’‘ 2. Check your outside lights
The evenings are drawing in fast! Make sure floodlights and sensor lights are working, and that any timers are set for the darker nights.

πŸ”’ 3. Give gates and locks some attention
Do your gates close and latch properly? Are padlocks, hinges and shutters moving freely? Autumn wet and winter cold only make stiff mechanisms worse.

πŸ“‹ 4. Update your keyholder list
If your alarm goes off in the middle of the night, who gets the call? Check the names and numbers are still right β€” people move on more often than we think.

πŸ”‹ 5. Test batteries on standalone alarms
Wireless and standalone devices are easy to forget about. Test them, swap anything that's running low, and don't ignore any flashing fault lights.

That's it β€” five quick checks, and you'll head into winter feeling much more confident. βœ…

Spotted something that needs a professional look? That's what we're here for. Whether it's a camera that needs moving, a gate that's playing up or an alarm showing a fault, our friendly engineers can sort it. We're a family-run business that's been looking after homes and businesses across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex since 1996 β€” and with CCTV, alarms, access control, gates, fire alarms and keyholding all under one roof, we've got you covered.

πŸŒ† Who's looking after your site once everyone's gone home?

For lots of local businesses, the quiet hours between locking up and opening again are when a site feels most exposed. Your cameras are recording and your alarm is set β€” but nobody's actually there to check that the back gate is shut or the shutter is properly down.

That's exactly where our mobile patrols come in. πŸš—

ADP's SIA-licensed security officers visit your premises on a schedule that suits you. That could be a set visit at lock-up time, randomised checks throughout the night so there's no pattern to predict, or a mix of both.

On every visit, our officers will:

βœ… Check doors, gates, shutters and windows are secure
βœ… Walk the perimeter and look over any weak spots
βœ… Look out for signs of attempted entry or damage
βœ… Report back on every visit β€” and flag anything unusual straight away

Just seeing a patrol vehicle turn up at unexpected times is enough to make most would-be intruders think again. πŸ‘€ No two nights look the same to anyone watching your site β€” and that's the whole point.

Every visit is logged too, so you'll always know when your site was checked and what our officers found. Handy for peace of mind, and for your insurer. πŸ“‹

It's a really cost-effective middle ground: more hands-on than cameras alone, without the cost of a full-time officer on site. It works brilliantly for industrial units, building sites, empty or part-occupied buildings, and any business that feels a bit vulnerable once the lights go off β€” especially now the evenings are drawing in. πŸ‚

And because we look after CCTV, alarms, access control, keyholding and alarm response too, we can plan your patrols around the security you've already got. One local team, everything under one roof. πŸ›‘οΈ

We've been a family-run business since 1996, and we're proud to be an SIA Approved Contractor serving Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and the surrounding areas. You'll always deal with people who know your site β€” never a faceless call centre.

Fancy an extra pair of eyes on your premises? Let's chat about a patrol schedule that works for you.

πŸ”₯ L1, L2, P1, P2… what does your fire alarm category actually mean?

It's one of those questions most business owners have never been asked. The fire alarm is on the wall, it gets serviced, job done, right?

But every commercial fire alarm system should be designed to a specific category under BS 5839, and that category decides what the system is actually there to do. πŸ‘‡

πŸ§‘β€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘ L categories = protecting people

These systems are all about giving everyone in the building enough warning to get out safely.

βœ… L1 – detection throughout the whole building
βœ… L2 – escape routes and the rooms off them, plus higher-risk areas
βœ… L3 – escape routes and the rooms opening onto them
βœ… L4 – escape routes only
βœ… L5 – a bespoke design built around a specific fire safety need

🏒 P categories = protecting property

These are designed to spot a fire early and get the fire service on the way, limiting damage to your building, stock and equipment.

βœ… P1 – detection throughout the building
βœ… P2 – detection in specific areas, like a server room or high-value store

There's also Category M (manual call points only), and lots of buildings use a combination, such as L2/P1.

So which one do you need? πŸ€”

Honestly, it depends on your building and how it's used. A care home with sleeping residents, a busy office, a warehouse that's empty overnight… they all have very different risks. Your insurer might have a say too.

And more isn't always better. Fitting detectors everywhere when you don't need them adds cost and can mean more false alarms. Too little, and people or property could be left exposed.

That's why the answer should come from a proper fire risk assessment, not guesswork. πŸ“‹ Every non-domestic premises needs one by law, and it should be the starting point for the right system design.

Where we come in 🀝

Our team designs, installs and maintains fire alarm systems to BS 5839, working with trusted names like C-TEC, Apollo and Kentec. We'll look at your fire risk assessment, walk your building, and recommend the category that fits the way you actually use it. No overselling, no corner-cutting.

We're a family-run business, founded by Alan Day back in 1996, and we've been looking after businesses across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex for nearly 30 years. SSAIB certified, ISO 9001 accredited, and everything under one roof.

Not sure what category your current system is? Give us a call or drop us a message. We're always happy to take a look. 😊

🌱 Ever wondered what ISO 14001 actually means?

If you've looked at our certifications, you'll have spotted some familiar names β€” SSAIB, ISO 9001, SIA Approved Contractor. Sitting quietly among them is ISO 14001. It's one people often ask us about, so here's the simple version.

ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management. In plain English, it means we run a proper, structured system for understanding and reducing our impact on the environment β€” and, importantly, it isn't something we just say about ourselves. It's independently audited. βœ…

Our certificate is issued by Peers Quality Assurance Ltd, a UKAS-recognised certification body, so an external auditor regularly checks that our system works in practice, not just on paper.

So what does that look like day to day? πŸ”§

For a security company like ours, it's about the practical stuff:
🚐 Planning engineer journeys sensibly
πŸ’‘ Using energy and materials carefully
♻️ Handling waste β€” including old equipment and batteries β€” responsibly
πŸ“ˆ Setting objectives and reviewing them, because the standard expects continual improvement

Why does it matter to you? 🀝

If you're a business choosing a security partner, more and more procurement processes ask for evidence of environmental responsibility. ISO 14001 gives you that in a recognised, audited form β€” and it helps you meet your own sustainability goals too.

Think of it this way: SSAIB and ISO 9001 tell you we do the job to a high standard. ISO 14001 tells you we think about the footprint that job leaves behind. All three are checked by independent auditors and maintained through regular reviews β€” none of them can simply be claimed. πŸ”

A quick note for procurement teams πŸ“‹ If your supplier questionnaire asks for an environmental policy or ISO 14001 evidence, we can provide our certificate details on request.

It also says something about how we run things. We're a family business, founded by Alan Day back in 1996, and we've always believed the way you do the job matters just as much as the job itself. Alongside SSAIB for our security systems and ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 shows we take our wider responsibilities seriously too.

From CCTV and access control to fire alarms and manned guarding β€” everything under one roof, delivered responsibly. πŸ’™

Got a question about our certifications, or need evidence for a tender? Just ask β€” we're always happy to help.

πŸŒ™ Nights are drawing in β€” is your CCTV keeping up?

Every year it's the same story: as the evenings get darker earlier, some CCTV systems just can't keep up. Footage that looked great in the summer sun starts to look grainy, dark, or downright useless exactly when you might need it most β€” trying to make out a face or a number plate on a poorly lit recording is never a good moment to discover your cameras weren't up to the job.

The good news? It doesn't have to be that way. πŸ“Ή Modern cameras from Hikvision and Axis are built with excellent low-light and infrared performance, so you get clear, usable footage even as natural light fades earlier each day. No drop-off in quality, no seasonal blind spots, no grainy green-and-black smudge where a clear picture should be.

The key is choosing the right camera for your site β€” not just any camera. A busy car park, a warehouse yard, and a shop entrance all need different lenses, IR ranges and settings to perform well after dark. That's exactly what we do at ADP: nearly 30 years in, we're a family-run team who specify CCTV around your site and your budget, not a one-size-fits-all box off the shelf, and we back it up with SSAIB and ISO accreditation.

With the clocks not even back yet, now's a great time to make sure your system is ready for the darker months ahead, rather than finding out the hard way in November. πŸ’‘

We're offering a free CCTV health check to look over your current cameras and coverage before the nights close in properly β€” no obligation, just an honest assessment.

πŸ›‘οΈ Cameras see everything. But it takes a person to act on what they see.

Our SIA-licensed security officers patrol commercial sites across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex β€” visible, confident, and ready to respond the moment something needs a human decision.

CCTV and alarms are brilliant at spotting trouble and keeping a record. A uniformed officer on site is what actually deters it, and what steps in when it counts. That's why so many of our clients combine manned guarding with CCTV and remote monitoring β€” not one or the other, but genuinely complete cover. πŸ”’
