Bathroom upgrade 🔥

We were called to attend this customers bath not draining (even though it was only installed brand new by another company this year)

It turned out using a camera, we could see whilst being installed the bath waste pipe under the floor had dropped due to being installed incorrectly meaning it was running uphill.

After discussions with the customer, rather than going from below through the ceiling, she decided it was a good time to update what she could without doing a full renovation.

That meant us removing the floor and current bodged vanity units whilst trying to keep the tiles in tact.

We then installed a new floor and new vanity units, the new units were slightly smaller than the previous so we had to create an end panel to fill the gap and an upstand to hide the gap between the tiles and the worktop.

All in all it turned out really nice without spending as much as a full bathroom refit!

Another happy customer and now the team have signed off for the rest of the week for some well earned rest! 🫡

💥 COMBI CONVERSION WITH A 5 STAR REVIEW💥

Out with the old, in with the new! 🔥

This week’s job saw us carry out a full combi conversion, saying goodbye to the old traditional open-vented system and giving the whole heating system a much-needed upgrade! 👋

We replaced every radiator bar one (which had already been recently replaced), as well as adding 2 brand-new radiators into rooms that previously didn’t have any! 🔥

To finish it all off, we installed a brand-new Baxi combi boiler with a 5-year warranty. 👌

This is a fully updated heating system and some very happy customers who are now more than ready for the colder months! 🥶➡️🔥

And they must have been happy… because the 5-star Google review has already landed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️

🌱 Our First Step Into Renewables – Air Source Heat Pump Installation! 🙌🏼

We’ve been a bit quiet on here lately… but definitely not quiet at work! 😂 lots of pictures with this post to get the true scale of this job!

We’ve been flat out with a few ongoing projects, but this is probably the most exciting one of the lot!

We’ve taken our first proper step into the world of renewables, teaming up with a good friend of ours who is MCS registered to install this Vaillant air source heat pump system. 🙌🏼

The old oil boiler and conventional heating system have come out and been replaced with a completely new setup, including underfloor heating throughout, a new unvented cylinder and water softener.

Getting everything into the old boiler cupboard definitely took a fair bit of head scratching and tinkering 😂 but we’re really pleased with how it’s all come together.

It’s been a massive learning curve for us as well. We’ve learnt that even the smallest bit of dust underneath the underfloor heating boards can cause voids, we have fit plenty of underfloor heating over the years, but it’s our first time laying these 20mm boards beforehand!
so a few sections came back up and were relaid until we were happy with them. We’ve also altered and rerouted some of the pipework along the way to get everything sitting how we wanted it.

Once we got our heads around it all though, it’s been a cracking job to get stuck into and something we’ve thoroughly enjoyed.

Nearly there now — just the wiring and commissioning left to go…

Oh, and the bit we’ve both been putting off… lagging all that pipework! 😂🙏🏼

🔧 One of those tricky, challenging… but very satisfying jobs today!

Anyone who’s fitted an undermount sink alongside any form of boiling water tap will know they can be a bit of a headache! 😅 it takes a bit of working out to get everything fitted neatly without completely sacrificing the cupboard.

After a bit of head scratching, we managed to get everything tucked away nicely and even leave the customer with a decent bit of usable cupboard space! 👌

And this particular Blanco tap is some bit of kit…

🫧 Even sparkling water!

You can control it all from your phone app, telling it how much water to pour etc 😅😂

All from one very smart-looking tap.

Really enjoyed this one — it’s nice having a job every now and then that gets the brain ticking and gives you that satisfying finished result.

🚿 Another bathroom transformation finished up today! 🛁

This one was definitely ready for a bit of an update! The customer wanted to modernise the room and, most importantly, get rid of that old-school archway over the bath.

We’ve fitted a fresh new suite, modern shower and bath setup, chrome towel rail and finished the wet areas with these smart marble-effect wall panels. 👌

Our part is now complete and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished result once the customers have finished the flooring and decorating!

The last few weeks at The Gas & Flow Co. have certainly kept us busy… and that’s exactly how we like it! 💪🔧

From installing brand-new boilers 🔥, putting the finishing touches to bathroom renovations 🚿, to all the everyday plumbing repairs, servicing and maintenance jobs that keep homes running smoothly – it’s been a bit of everything!

One of the best parts of this job is the variety. No two days are ever the same, and every job brings a new challenge, which definitely keeps us on our toes.

We’re now officially signed off for a well-earned weekend to recharge before doing it all again next week. 🍻

🔧 It’s not all work… there has to be a bit of play too! 🎯

The challenge was simple – spend £50 or more and throw your best three darts at our local Wolseley branch… with no practice.

Somehow an impressive 121 was enough to seal the deal! 🎯💪

Now I’m just hoping my darts team sees this… surely this has earned me a promotion from reserve! 🤣

🚿 Bathroom transformation complete! 🚿

This week’s task was all about making this bathroom work better for our customer’s needs. Although the original room was still in great condition, it simply wasn’t the most practical setup for her, so we got to work creating a space that was safer, more accessible and much easier to use day to day.

Out went the bath and in went a brand-new full-length shower tray with easy access, alongside a new comfort-height toilet to make life that little bit easier. To help keep costs down, we were able to reuse the existing flooring and basin, which were both still in like new condition.

The finished result is a much more open and usable room, complete with easy-clean Multipanel shower boards, a spacious shower area and plenty more room to move around.

Sometimes the biggest improvements aren’t about completely starting again — they’re about making a space fit the people who use it daily.

🔥 Out with the old, in with the new! 🔥

This week we swapped out an ageing conventional heating system and upgraded the customer to a brand-new 30kW Baxi combi boiler.

Their old boiler had been causing a few headaches over the last few months, so rather than waiting for it to finally give up in the middle of winter, they decided to bite the bullet and get it sorted now. Along with the new installation, we also carried out a full powerflush on the heating system to remove any sludge and debris, helping everything run as efficiently as possible for years to come.

After spending the week working in a 1930s house that seemed to trap every bit of this summer heat, we can confirm they definitely didn’t need the heating on! 🥵☀️

Despite the temperatures, we pushed through and made sure the customer was back up and running as quickly as possible with a modern, efficient heating system that’s ready for the colder months ahead.

Once the customers has filled the holes and painted the airing cupboard, they will have a fresh new storage space, just another one of the bonuses of upgrading to a combi!

🚐🛠️ A slightly different one for us this week…

We were contacted by Bursting with Potential, a fantastic specialist occupational therapy service right here in our village, to carry out some important alterations.

The brief was simple:

✅ Keep disruption to an absolute minimum
✅ Keep the job clean, practical and cost-effective
✅ Get the work completed with as little downtime to the service as possible

The aim was to create a brand new WC area for the children, meaning they no longer have to make the journey through a working kitchen just to get to the toilet.

The biggest challenge? The soil pipe. After exploring all the options, the most sensible solution was to surface mount the waste pipe, with the intention of boxing it in at a later date.

Now, we know social media loves a “perfect” finish, and the exposed pipework might not win any beauty contests just yet… 😄 But sometimes practicality, cost and functionality have to come first — and most importantly, it WORKS exactly as intended.

We managed to keep the centre closed for just one day, with only a few finishing touches completed after the children had gone home today.
