Another project progressing well in Peterborough 🔥🚨

Our team is currently installing a new 60-point fire detection and alarm system, alongside a police-response intruder alarm system, providing the premises with comprehensive fire and security protection.

Works include installation, programming, testing and commissioning, all being delivered by our in-house engineers to the relevant British Standards and certification requirements.

Great progress from the team so far — and another site where Bridges Fire & Security is delivering both fire and security systems under one roof.

📹 Thinking About CCTV for Your Home? Here Are a Few Things to Consider

Domestic CCTV has come a long way. A properly designed system can now give you clear images, intelligent notifications and remote access from your phone — without constantly alerting you every time a tree moves.

A few tips from the Bridges Fire & Security team if you’re considering CCTV:

📍 Camera position matters — more cameras doesn’t necessarily mean better security. Correct positioning and the right field of view are far more important.

🌙 Think about night-time images — a camera that looks brilliant during the day may perform very differently in darkness. Lighting, infrared and camera specification all matter.

🚨 Use intelligent detection — modern systems can distinguish people and vehicles from general movement, dramatically reducing unwanted notifications.

📱 Make sure remote access is set up properly — viewing your cameras and receiving alerts through your phone is one of the biggest benefits of a modern CCTV system.

🏠 Be considerate of neighbouring property and public areas — domestic CCTV should be positioned with privacy and data-protection responsibilities in mind.

And one of our biggest pieces of advice: don’t choose a CCTV system purely by the number of megapixels written on the box. Good system design, positioning, lighting, recording quality and configuration make the real difference.

Bridges Fire & Security provides professionally installed domestic CCTV and home security systems across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and surrounding areas.

🔥 Another Busy Start to the Week!

Our engineers have been out commissioning 5 fire alarm systems across 5 new commercial sites — another batch of projects getting close to handover.

These sites have been fitted with Fike conventional fire alarm systems. Fike wasn’t our manufacturer of choice on these projects — the equipment was specified as part of the original tender — but our job is to make sure every system is fully tested, commissioned, documented and compliant before handover.

Commissioning isn’t just switching the panel on. Our engineers work through the complete installation, testing devices, sounders, interfaces and operation of the system, as well as completing the required certification and documentation.

Business security brought up to modern standards. 🔐

Another commercial security upgrade completed by the Bridges Fire & Security team this week.

As an SSAIB-certified security provider, Bridges Fire & Security can provide:

• Commercial intruder alarm systems
• 24/7 alarm monitoring
• Police response systems
