Few days down in lovely Hampshire at this rather splendid country estate.

The two main lawns were looking a little worse for wear even before this summer’s hot temperatures and in need of some TLC. Firstly they were scarified in two different directions to remove dead grass and thatch allowing daylight in.
They were then over sown in two different directions with a bent/fescue mix of seed which will give them a nice dense lush lawn and finally a NPK fertiliser was applied to give it a boost before the growing season finishes.
Now hoping for some rain to get the grass to germinate as it’s still very dry in that part of the country.

Local Cricket outfield renovation work undertaken last week.

The grass had taken a beating during the summer leaving very little grass.

The area was scarified in two directions to remove some of the thatch, it was then overseeded with the disc seeder in three different directions at a rate of 45g per sq/m, then finally a pre seeder fertiliser was applied, now hoping for some rain.

Recent project undertaken in Suffolk at a new electricity substation where power is stored from offshore wind farms before being released into the grid.

No deep cultivations were allowed onsite so areas were just cut down before raking took place. Two different wild flower mixes were then sown to different areas around the site (wetland mix for water storage areas and ditches and a heavy clay mix for all other areas)

An additional playing area for a primary school in Suffolk recently completed.

Area was levelled, cultivated as deep as possible before being stone buried leaving a nice level seedbed. Seed was then sown in two directions and rolled.

Another one done and dusted!

Very dry conditions for this one with a lot of debris in the ground, it took six passes over the whole area to get it to an acceptable standard.

Approximately 25tons was removed and carted away before seeding took place. Hopefully with the recent wet weather it won’t be long before the customer will see a green coverage.

Great day out yesterday supporting Newborough YFC annual tractor run, this year in memory of local farmer Hayden Grooby who sadly died last year.

Phase two completed!

This was the second part of the job from last year, part of this lawn had been built up with subsoil and excavations in the past and was too high.

Material was dug out to a depth of approximately 300mm and carted away, new soil was then bought in ( Boughton Loam Landscape 20) and levelled out. A final rake was then done before fertiliser and grass seed was sown and rolled in.

Thirty tons of gravel was delivered and spread over a tired looking drive, all in all a very satisfying conclusion to this one.

Another worn out lawn replaced.

Top surface sprayed off and removed two weeks later, soil cultivated and surface levels improved. Seedbed created with the rotorake before grass seed was sown and rolled.
