A great example of how a full modernisation can completely transform an existing lift , both inside and out.
For this project, our engineers carried out extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades, including:
• Replacement lift car
• New Controller
• New stop switches
• New suspension rope
• New motor and gear
• New access panel
• Replacement guide shoes on the lift car
• Plus further associated works
While the visible difference speaks for itself, much of the work involved in a modernisation happens behind the scenes.
Rather than replacing the complete installation, modernisation can allow suitable existing elements to be retained while ageing components are upgraded or replaced improving the lift for continued use.

Out with the old and in with the new, all with minimal disruption to the customer.

Our team is currently completing the replacement of a kitchen dumbwaiter at Hoar Cross Hall. After more than 20 years of service, the existing lift was removed during a night shift, ready for the new lift to be installed, tested and commissioned.

The original dumbwaiter was manufactured by SKG and its replacement is another SKG model. Choosing the same manufacturer after more than two decades of reliable service is a fantastic reflection of the equipment’s quality and durability.

A brilliant job by the UK Service Lifts team throughout the removal stage, with thanks to Metallschneider GmbH for producing equipment designed with installation, maintenance and everyday operation in mind.

Next step: installing the new dumbwaiter and getting it into service!

These photos give a great behind the scenes look at the process from the lift being installed during the initial building works, through to the finished installation seamlessly incorporated into the completed venue.

Designed to provide a practical and space saving way to transport smaller goods between floors, the finished dumbwaiter now sits discreetly within the working environment, helping make everyday operations quicker and more efficient.

The UK Service Lifts team came together for our Annual General Meeting, giving us the opportunity to reflect on the past year, celebrate our achievements and discuss our plans for the future.

Once the meeting wrapped up, it was time to swap the boardroom for the axe throwing lanes, where we enjoyed a great evening of food, games and plenty of friendly competition.
