Sometimes the ceiling doesn't need to cover the whole ceiling.

Acoustic baffles can be suspended vertically within a space to help control reverberation without installing a traditional suspended ceiling.

They're particularly useful where the design calls for an exposed soffit or where services are intended to remain visible.

They can also become a strong visual feature in their own right.

Acoustic performance and design don't have to compete with each other.

Need access above a plasterboard ceiling? Think about it before the ceiling is finished.

Valves, dampers, electrical equipment and other services may all require future maintenance.

That's where access panels come in.

Their size, location and type need coordinating with both the ceiling and the services above it.

Planning them early normally produces a much neater result than discovering after completion that somebody needs access to something hidden above the ceiling.

A small detail that can make a big difference later.

Want a more accurate ceiling or partition quotation?

The better the information we receive, the better the quotation we can provide.

Ideally, we're looking for:
Drawings showing the areas involved.
Ceiling heights.
Specifications or preferred products.
Details of existing ceilings on refurbishment projects.
Site access information.
Programme dates.
Any out of hours requirements.
And, where available, photographs of the existing space.

Not every project will have all of that information, particularly at an early stage.
That's fine.

But identifying the unknowns early means fewer assumptions and fewer surprises later.

A damaged ceiling tile doesn't always mean there's a problem with the ceiling.

Water leaks.
M&E works.
Access to services.
Impact damage.
Previous alterations.

There are plenty of reasons an existing ceiling might need attention.

Before replacing anything, it's worth understanding what caused the damage in the first place and identifying the existing ceiling system.

Sometimes a local repair is all that's needed.

Other times, the damage is telling you there's another problem that needs dealing with first.

Sometimes replacing the whole ceiling isn't necessary.

An existing suspended ceiling may simply need damaged tiles replacing, grid repairs, alterations around new services or localised replacement following a leak.

The important part is establishing what system is already there and whether compatible components are still available.

Some older ceiling products and systems have been discontinued, which can turn what looks like a simple repair into something slightly more involved.

Survey first. Decide afterwards.

Changing an office layout doesn't always mean major building work.

Partition systems can create meeting rooms, private offices, breakout spaces, corridors and storage areas, often with relatively little disruption.

Depending on the requirements, that might mean traditional metal stud and plasterboard, demountable systems or glazed partitions.

Sometimes changing how an existing space works is more valuable than simply finding a bigger one.

The ceiling might be one of the last finishes installed, but it shouldn't be one of the last things considered.

Lights.

Air conditioning.

Sprinklers.

Detectors.

Speakers.

Access panels.

All of them can interact with the ceiling.

A little coordination before installation can make the difference between a clean, well-set-out finished ceiling and one compromised by last-minute changes.

The best ceilings are usually planned long before the first tile goes in.

Acoustics rarely get noticed when they're right.

But everybody notices when they're wrong.

Hard surfaces can make offices, classrooms and communal areas uncomfortable very quickly.

Suspended acoustic ceilings are one solution, but they're not the only one.

Acoustic rafts, baffles and wall panels can all help control reverberation while becoming part of the design of the space.

The right solution depends on the room, its use and the performance required.

Good acoustics should almost disappear into the building.

The cheapest time to find a problem is during the survey.

Not after the materials have arrived.

And definitely not when the installation team is standing on site.

Ceiling height conflicts, existing services, unsuitable fixing points, access restrictions and unidentified existing systems can all affect the works.

We'd much rather identify those issues early, discuss them and agree a solution before installation begins.

Good preparation rarely gets noticed.

Poor preparation certainly does.
