While at Flag Fen over the weekend I was delighted to come across this lovely native tree. The Spindle Tree, (Euonymus Europaeus). It is a sign of heritage woodland so if you come across it you are standing in an exciting habitat; keep your eyes open.

Well I was at The Center For Alternative Technology for tge members conference. In the 1970's this was a disused abandoned quarry in Wales. This garden planted around a south facing wall on a bedrock of slate with only leaf mulch sand and gravel as a soil base has not been watered for the past 5 years including this last summer. Shows what can be achieved.
