Leaves, mud and general debris can quickly restrict surface water drainage, particularly when we get a spell of heavy rain.

If you have outside drains or gullies at home or at your business, it’s worth keeping an eye on them and clearing away anything collecting around the top.

Sometimes the issue is further along the drainage system, which is why plunging it and hoping for the best might only provide a temporary fix.

If you're dealing with repeated blockages, we'll work out what's actually going on and advise on the best way to sort it.

Because nobody wants the blocked toilet becoming a regular member of the household. 😅

This is the time of year when drainage systems really start earning their keep.
More rain, falling leaves and debris can quickly expose a gully or drain that hasn't been coping quite as well as it should.

With wetter weather, falling leaves and winter on the horizon, now is a good time to have a look around the outside of your premises.

Are your gullies clear?
Is water draining away properly?
Any areas where water regularly pools?
Have you been putting off a drainage issue because it’s “not that bad yet”?

A drainage problem is inconvenient at home. At a busy commercial premises, it can quickly become a much bigger disruption.

Take five minutes to work out where your outside drains, gullies and manhole covers are.

It’s not particularly exciting, we’ll admit. 😂 But if you ever have a drainage problem, knowing where everything is can make investigating it much easier.

It’s also worth keeping access points clear rather than letting them disappear underneath gravel, decking, plants or garden furniture.

Your future self and potentially your drainage engineer - will thank you!

Gurgling or bubbling noises from sinks, toilets or showers can sometimes be an early sign that something isn’t quite right with your drainage.

It could be a restriction in the pipework, a developing blockage or an issue with how air is moving through the system.

If your drains have suddenly become a little more vocal than usual, don’t just turn the telly up. 😂 It could be worth getting them checked.
