Completed my Lantra Chainsaw Felling up to 380mm course today. A great few days building confidence and improving safe working practices in directional felling, cross-cutting, tension and compression, site assessment, and overall chainsaw operation.

Always looking to continue developing skills and qualifications within the horticulture and arboriculture industry to provide a safer and higher standard of work through Terra Garden Maintenance.

My diary will be opening up during the second week in June until the end of August for garden "resets"/"clearances".
I understand currently there is a backlog of people waiting for replies so please be patient as I balance study, my business by myself, other training days and my personal life.

Additional services will be offered during this period:

× W**d control (backpack spraying)
× Mulching borders with bark
× Scarifying
× Powerwashing
× Hedges (if no birds are nesting within)
× Lawncare
× Brushcutting
× Felling of small trees and branch removal
× Pruning
× Planting border and pot bedding plants
× Digging over beds and adding nutrients

Additional services will always be added as time goes on, with my commitment to offering more and gaining additional qualifications all the while refining what I do.

Chaenostoma cordatum ‘Snowflake’, commonly known as bacopa, is a trailing bedding plant valued for its masses of small white flowers and soft green foliage. Ideal for hanging baskets and containers, it provides continuous flowering throughout summer and works well to soften edges and combine with brighter seasonal displays. Best grown in full sun or partial shade with regular watering.

First visit was shrub reductions, tree work and pruning.
Second visit lawns were cut, more pruning and borders weeded at this beautiful B&B in Perthshire.

Basket making and greenhouse management at college today, producing hanging baskets for a client using a mixture of seasonal bedding plants including geraniums, bacopa, argyranthemum, and bidens to create balanced colour, texture, and trailing growth throughout the summer season. The day also included greenhouse management tasks, organising stock, monitoring plant quality, and working within production areas preparing plants for the months ahead. A good hands-on session combining practical planting, plant selection, and nursery management.

Also my last plant I.D., HNC IN Horticulture is in sight!!

Begonia tuberhybrida ‘Illumination Apricot Shades’ is a trailing bedding plant valued for its large double flowers in warm apricot and orange tones. Ideal for hanging baskets and containers, it flowers continuously through summer and performs well in sun or partial shade. Its cascading habit and soft colour make it effective for adding seasonal impact and texture to displays.’

Petunia ‘Surfinia Giant Purple’ is a vigorous trailing bedding plant valued for its large, velvety purple flowers and long flowering season. Ideal for hanging baskets and containers, it provides strong summer colour and a cascading habit throughout the season. Best grown in full sun with regular feeding and watering, it performs reliably from late spring through to autumn.

A great visit to Malleny Garden on the 30th of April, exploring one of the National Trust for Scotland’s historic walled gardens. The visit provided a closer look at the structure and management of the garden, including mature trees, formal planting, herbaceous borders, and the nationally significant collection of historic roses throughout the grounds. It was also interesting to study the pathways and access routes, seeing how the layout guides visitors through the garden while complementing the surrounding planting and landscape. A valuable opportunity to take inspiration from planting combinations, rose collections, garden design, and long-term landscape management within a well-established historic setting.
