Birmingham is in the midst of a crisis. With an estimated 17,000 tonnes of rubbish now lining the streets due to an ongoing bin strike, the city has become a breeding ground for vermin.

Did you know if you bring home just 1 flea, in only 60 days your home could be overrun by as many as 20,000 fleas!!

A flea will feed up to 10 seconds after landing on its host and a female flea will lay up to 40 eggs a day only 48 hours after their first feed - that's 1085 eggs in a single lifespan!

Flea's have many stages from egg to flea, eggs lay dormant for up to 12 days before hatching into larvae where they can burrow into carpets/beds/fabric and last up to 200 days before they change into pupae (in a cocoon). The cocoon stage can last up to a whole year, when they know a host is nearby they'll hatch into a flea!!

Fleas can be responsible for transmitting diseases to both you and your pets. The bubonic plague which was responsible for the deaths of more than 25 million people and other diseases such as cat scratch fever and murine fever are caused by flea bites.

To treat fleas in your home it is recommended to treat both your pets and your home, treating your pet alone can only mask the problem temporarily - Hidden larvae/pupae/eggs can re-infest your pets once the flea treatment has worn off!
