Electrical Installation Condition Report, why are they so important?

* Helps identify hidden electrical faults before they become a shock or fire risk.
* Checks that your installation is still safe to use, not just that it “works”.
* Highlights damaged, deteriorated or poorly installed wiring and accessories.
* Gives you clear evidence of what needs attention now and what can safely remain in service.
* Gives homeowners, landlords and businesses peace of mind that the electrical installation has been properly checked.

I’m a big believer in doing these properly. I regularly come across installations that appear fine day-to-day but reveal faults once they’re actually inspected and tested. That’s the bit most people never see.

Full rewires and major electrical refurbishment are a big part of the work I enjoy doing.

That can include the full design, installation, testing and certification for renovation projects, extensions and whole-house upgrades.

One thing that helps massively is having worked on complete builds and managed projects in the past. It means I’m always thinking about the next trade, not just my own part of the job.

This is my own kitchen at the moment, fully boarded and ready for plastering tomorrow. Cables are out of the way, the room is clear, materials are ready and the plasterer can come in and get straight on with it.

That might sound like a small thing, but on bigger renovation jobs it makes a huge difference when every trade works with the overall build in mind rather than just their own bit.
