Controversy alert! We decided not to use capping on the cables!!

We did this for two reasons:

1. Horizontal chases have a serious impact on structural integrity of building fabric and we didn't want to cut deeper to accommodate capping

2. As I know and trust the plasterer making good of the chases, I do not feel the need to install capping. Capping offers no mechanical protection to cables. It is solely to protect cables from a plasterers trowel

See the bare connections and wires, all accessible to touch. Its getting very dangerous out there

We managed to renew the lights with an almost identical fitting that is fully compliant and safe

We do this so cables can dissipate heat more easily when under demand

Here, the installer has kept this in mind when running cables. I took up the floor thinking the cables were underneath the insulation in order to free them, but the original installer had already done this. Usually not the case!
