When was the last time you walked through the woods at night?

I attended an excellent bat walk this evening in Eglinton Park organised by Ranger Jo of We Are Nature🦇

It was great to spend some time outdoors with the bat detectors listening for some activity. 🕵️‍♂️

We could hear Pipistrelles feeding along the Lugton river.

We even had a UV torch that made things glow in the dark.

It was a beautiful night. The moon looked amazing and there were lots of stars visible. 🌙✨

There’s another arranged for tomorrow at 6:30pm if you’re interested.

🌳 Preparing your trees for unsettled weather

A few customers have recently contacted Tree Wise about checking their trees and carrying out preventative work ahead of potentially unsettled weather associated with El Niño.

There’s no need for alarm, but autumn is a sensible time to identify obvious defects and consider whether trees would benefit from appropriate pruning.

Fungi fruit at this time of the year allowing us to better predict outcomes.

We can help with:

• Tree surveys and inspections — identifying defects, weaknesses and potential risks

• Pruning and crown management — where appropriate, reducing problematic growth or addressing vulnerable branches

Good tree management isn’t about making trees “storm-proof”. It’s about understanding their condition and taking proportionate action where it’s genuinely needed.
