From first fix right through to the final stages on this new build project in Torquay, working alongside the team at Gibbs and Lugg Ltd. Great to see everything coming together after all the hard work on site.

🔌 Power upgrade completed in Newton Abbot…

We’ve recently installed a new 200A submain for a high street store — delivering a solid, future-proof supply to support their growing electrical demand.

The install included:⚡ 95mm² SWA cable run on new cable tray⚡ Termination into a Garo 200A changeover switch⚡ Clean, robust install built for reliability

⚡ What a start to 2026! ⚡

It’s shaping up to be a seriously busy year for Alert Electrical Services SW Ltd, with some great projects already well underway across the South West.

A few highlights from the last few weeks 👇

🔹 Passage House Hotel – Bedroom rewires now underway, with cable basket systems installed throughout the corridors for new power and lighting as part of the refurbishment works.

🔹 Former M&S Store, Newton Abbot – Full electrical strip-out progressing well, plus the main electrical room upgrade which has now begun with the removal of the old panel and mounting of the new equipment ready to fit containment and cabling to next week.

🔹 Thurlestone Hotel – Server cabinet relocation completed, including the re-routing and termination of 96 network cables to keep everything running smoothly. Alongside this we undertook various maintenance works and EICR for the site whilst closed for there annual maintenance shutdown.

🔹 EV charge point servicing and maintenance visits, ensuring we keep the EV infrastructure working for the EV drivers around the South West.

⚡ The REAL cost of running an EV ⚡

This is my actual annual charging data for an annual mileage of 14.5k miles👇
🚗 4,034 kWh charged over the year
💷 Total electric cost: just £224
⛽ Petrol equivalent: £2,346

👉 That’s a saving of £2,122 in ONE year by driving electric.

Most charging was done at home on low-cost electricity, proving just how affordable EV ownership can be when you have the right charger installed.

🎄 That’s a wrap for Christmas! 🎄

As the year comes to a close, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all our customers, partners and supporters for your continued trust and custom throughout the year.

We’ll be closed for the Christmas break and returning to work on Monday 5th January.

⚡️ New Project – Hotel Refurbishment ⚡️

We don’t often kick off new projects in December, with everything usually slowing down and projects finishing. But this one seemed to pop up out of nowhere and wasn’t one we wanted to turn down.

We’ve completed the first bedroom of a full hotel refurbishment, delivering a fully finished room for client sign-off before the Christmas shutdown. The room was stripped, fully rewired, plastered, bathroom replaced and decorated in 2week from start to finish. This room now sets the benchmark for the remaining 39 bedrooms, which will be rolling out in the new year.

A strong start before Christmas, with the full refurbishment continuing in the new year.

The first of many great projects planned for 2026 — and it’s shaping up to be a very busy year!
