𝗔 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.

Set within the 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲, this extensive bespoke timber decking project has transformed the outdoor setting of a beautiful family home, creating an elegant and substantial space for everyday living, entertaining and long evenings outdoors.
The original ageing decking and deteriorated framework were fully removed, allowing the installation to be completely renewed with a bespoke structural timber frame and a new decking finish tailored precisely to the existing setting.
At the heart of the design is the 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, carefully constructed to follow the line of the natural stone wall and create a seamless, flowing edge around the terrace.
That same attention to detail continues through the 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, individually formed to create a beautifully proportioned transition into the garden below, alongside an additional 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 incorporated elsewhere within the installation.
The scale, curves and changing levels demanded meticulous setting out throughout. Every section of framework was constructed on site to achieve the strength, alignment and precision required for a project of this nature, while allowing the finished decking to retain an effortless architectural flow.
The completed setting is where the project truly comes together.
The warmth of the timber sits beautifully against 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗮𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 introduce layers of texture and character around the terrace.
It is a combination that feels both refined and timeless — sympathetic to its surroundings, yet striking enough to completely redefine the space.
As daylight fades, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 introduces another dimension to the design.
Carefully positioned along the curved perimeter and stepped sections, the warm illumination accentuates the shape of the decking, highlights the natural stonework and creates an elegant evening atmosphere across the terrace.
By day, the craftsmanship, 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 take centre stage.
By night, the lighting transforms the entire setting into a beautifully considered space for dining, entertaining and enjoying the outdoors long after sunset.
What appears effortless at completion is the result of extensive structural work, careful planning and precision craftsmanship — from the entirely new framework beneath, to the individually formed curves, steps and finishing details above.
All timber and materials for the project were supplied by Southern Timber, selected to provide 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗲.
