We’re working closely with partners in preparation for Local Government Reorganisation, with vesting day set for 1 April 2027, when the new East Surrey authority will be established — and which we will be part of.

As an established shared service, we are already well placed for the transition and will continue to deliver services as business as usual throughout.

Apprenticeships offer wonderful opportunities for young people to build confidence, gain practical experience and develop rewarding long-term careers 💙

Sir Gareth Southgate’s recent discussion with Amol Rajan on BBC Radio 4 really struck a chord with us — particularly around creating opportunities, building confidence and supporting young people as they prepare for the future.

It’s a message that closely reflects the work we do as a Local Authority Building Control organisation working alongside the national organisation LABC - Local Authority Building Control, which offers apprenticeship pathways into the industry. These schemes help young people gain valuable real-world experience and develop careers in Building Control.

We’re incredibly proud of our current and previous apprentices, alongside all the apprentices developing their careers through LABC pathways 👏

Supporting the next generation is something we’re hugely passionate about 💙

Following the recent BBC Radio 4 discussion between Sir Gareth Southgate and Amol Rajan on the importance of supporting young people and creating opportunities for the future workforce, we’re proud to champion work experience locally 👏🏻

This July, we look forward to hosting Oxted School pupils for work experience, to provide insight into the workplace, build confidence and explore future career opportunities.

We may be one district in Surrey, but we’re proud to play our part in supporting skills, opportunities and future careers for young people and working with others in our local community.
