🍾 What a fantastic evening at the Tandridge Business Awards 2026! 🎉

✅ We were delighted to represent SBCP, sponsor the Apprentice of the Year award and help celebrate the incredible talent, dedication and success found across our local business community.

🙌 Congratulations to all the finalists and winners and thank you to Surrey Chambers of Commerce for helping judge the Apprentice of the Year category.

It was also a pleasure to judge the Community Service Provider award alongside Lingfield Park Resort, learning more about the organisations making a real difference across Tandridge.

One thing that really stood out was the support local businesses showed for one another. From sponsoring awards to donating raffle prizes and gifts, so many organisations helped create such a memorable evening.

👉 At Southern Building Control Partnership, site inspections remain the most important way we check that building work complies with the Building Regulations.

📸 While photographs can occasionally provide useful supporting information, we do not generally accept them as proof that work complies with the regulations. A photograph only tells part of the story and, increasingly, advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and image-editing technology mean that images may not always show what has actually been built.

✅ How to Prepare for an Inspection ✅

Preparing properly helps avoid delays and ensures your inspection can be completed in one visit. Inspections are carried out at key stages, not every stage, and it is the responsibility of the person carrying out the work to notify Building Control when each stage is ready for inspection.

👉 Inspections are normally carried out in person on site.
👉 During the visit, the inspector explains what they are checking and discusses any issues directly with those present.
👉 The visit is followed up with a written site inspection record that will be sent to you by email.

Building regulations apply to most new buildings and certain alterations. They can also apply when the use of a building is changed. In general, most building work needs formal approval.

Types of work that need approval
