Everyone here is equally delighted with student Jo’s finished armchair which makes a great statement piece in its new bold pallet. Jo joined us on our weekly upholstery courses to learn to reupholster it and chose this very beautiful Bloomsbury Garden fabric, from Timorous Beasties. Inspired by founder of the Arts and Crafts movement, William Morris, the pattern features bramble and fruiting vine and is alive with butterflies and beetles.

To mark her final day of official upholstery training, Charlotte had OSU t-shirts printed for everyone and even Sunny the dog wasn’t forgotten, she got this cute bandanna!
How kind, thanks Charlotte.
Today we celebrate stitching friendships at OSU.
Sending our very best wishes for your continuing upholstery venture Charlotte. Don’t be a stranger…

This traditionally upholstered sprung seat will be student Joanna’s first marked piece for her Level 1 Craft Certificate, and what a great start! We love the embroidered fabric, a lucky secondhand shop find. Joanna had the vision to pair it with this chair and we can see why, it complements it beautifully. ❤️

We’re enrolling now for our next cohort of traditional upholstery students. Join us and see your own creative visions materialise.

How fun is this sardine cross stitch? It was made by our student Charlotte and turned into a quirky little footstool, one of her first projects on the upholstery training course. A traditionally upholstered footstool like this also makes a great starter piece on one of our leisure courses.

Various projects on the go in the school.

On our week long courses students bring a project and we guide them through the process of upholstery with step by step instruction and support. It’s great to see students ideas materialise as they work and learn.

All good things must come to an end?
After spending a couple of months learning modern upholstery with us at OSU Lujain went back to Saudi Arabia but she takes all the valuable skills she learnt with her, to start her own business.
Maybe we should say…
As one good thing comes to an end so another begins.

Best of luck Lujain
