What a journey, and what a place to call home!

We’re now approaching the final stages of this stunning new build in Bagley Wood, Kennington, with external works due to be completed in just two weeks before we hand over the finished home to our clients.

Bagley Wood is a special part of Oxfordshire, with a history stretching back centuries. Once part of the historic woodland landscape surrounding Oxford, it remains one of those rare locations where you’re just minutes from the city centre but can feel a world away in the countryside.

We started on site at this bungalow near Reading earlier this year and handed it over last month, so it is a pleasure to finally share the finished photos.

The brief was to open up the back of the house and give the family a proper living space that connects with the garden. We took down the rear wall, put in a new steel frame and built a single storey extension with a vaulted ceiling, a full height glazed gable and bi-fold doors out onto a new patio. Four roof lights along the ridge keep the whole space bright from morning to evening.

Inside, the extension now holds the kitchen, dining and living areas in one open room. The dark green shaker kitchen with brass handles and a quartz island is the centrepiece, with a separate utility tucked off to the side. We also fitted out the new bathroom with a bath, separate shower, vertical tiling and brushed brass fittings, and the rest of the house has been redecorated throughout with new skirtings, architraves and internal doors.

Outside, the extension has been finished in through coloured render with a new tiled roof to match the original house, and the existing windows were replaced so everything reads as one. The drone shots show just how much the footprint has changed.

A great result for a lovely client, and a good example of what can be done with a tired bungalow when you get the layout right.

Progress update from Cranham Street, Jericho.

This one is a full transformation of a Victorian terrace, taking in a single storey rear extension, a first floor extension, a loft conversion with a new dormer, a garage conversion and a complete refurbishment throughout. Four months in and the house already looks very different.

The main roof has been fully retiled in new slate and the dormer up top is framed, boarded and wrapped, so the original house is now weathertight. Inside, the upstairs rooms have been plasterboarded and skimmed and are drying out nicely, with the first floor joists overhauled and first fix electrics and plumbing complete before the plasterers went in. On the ground floor the walls have been tanked with a cavity drain membrane and the fire boarding is going up, with insulation and materials stacked ready for the next push.

At the back, the new steel frame is in and painted, the timber frame walls are up and the blockwork for the rear extension is out of the ground, with the new brick garden wall already taking shape alongside. Our carpenters have made the most of the late summer sun getting the frame and floor decks together.

Next up is finishing the rear extension structure and getting it under cover, then it is on to staircases, second fix, tiling and the kitchen as the house comes together room by room ahead of handover later this year.

There is a lot going on behind that front door, and it is a great example of how much space and light can be unlocked in a traditional Oxford terrace.

Lytton Road, Florence Park is complete and the results are absolutely breathtaking 🎉😍

This ground and first floor rear extension in the heart of Florence Park, Oxford has completely transformed this home into something truly special.

Those Crittal style doors and windows flooding the space with light, two rooflights overhead, a gold chandelier centrepiece, stunning bamboo print wallpaper wrapping the dining space, sage green cabinetry with brushed brass handles and an island with induction hob built right in 🌿✨ The whole space just flows beautifully from kitchen to dining to living and straight out to the garden 🚪☀️

From the aerial shots you can really appreciate the scale of what has been built here, a full two storey rear extension with natural slate roof sitting perfectly within the streetscape of Florence Park 🏡🔥

🏆 A proud moment for Lynch Brother Homes and the wider Lynch Brother Group.

We’re delighted to share that Henry Lynch, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Lynch Brother Homes, has won the NextGen (Under 35) Award at the OxProp Awards.

The awards took place at Keble College, Oxford, bringing together some of the leading people and businesses from across Oxfordshire’s built environment.

Henry was shortlisted alongside James Kernot of Savills and Adam Passfield of Gleeds, both doing great things within the industry.

Henry founded Lynch Brother Homes alongside his brother, John Lynch, and the business has since grown to sit at the heart of Lynch Brother Group.

Together, the ambition across the Group is to build a self-sufficient construction infrastructure capable of supporting and delivering projects seamlessly from start to finish.

Through Lynch Brother Homes and the wider Group, we work alongside colleges, universities, architects, interior designers, consultants, private clients and construction professionals across Oxford and the surrounding areas.
