👏 The team at the Grove School in have made an excellent start in delivering a brand-new SEND hub for Shropshire Council, providing enhanced facilities and support for pupils with additional needs.

The project involves the demolition of the former caretaker's bungalow before transforming the site into a modern single-storey learning environment, complete with associated landscaping, groundworks and M&E installations.

👷‍♂️ Just seven weeks in, we've already completed:
✔️ Tree and vegetation clearance
✔️ Demolition of the existing bungalow
✔️ Reduced-level excavation
✔️ Foundations and substructure works
✔️ Installation of the attenuation tank
✔️ Beam-and-block flooring

🏗️ Masonry works are now progressing above DPC, and the new building is starting to take shape. A fantastic effort from everyone involved so far – well done to the whole project team! 👏

Learning to read can transform lives, opening up opportunities, building confidence and creating greater independence. The stories shared during this visit are a powerful reminder that even small interventions can make a lasting difference for individuals, families and communities.

Thank you to Read Easy's dedicated volunteers for the incredible support they provide, and to Shropshire Community Foundation for helping us direct funding where it can have the greatest impact 🤝

Together, we're helping local people realise their potential and build brighter futures.

A huge thank you to our Ambassador, Ged Kennedy, for visiting Read Easy Telford and Shropshire East , alongside Victoria Lawson from Pave Aways Ltd to see the remarkable impact of the Pave Aways Community Fund.

Through a grant from the fund, Read Easy is supporting seven adults in Wellington to learn to read, opening doors to greater confidence, improved employment prospects and brighter futures.

Read Easy provides free, confidential one-to-one reading coaching for adults using trained volunteer reading coaches and the highly effective Turning Pages programme. Sessions often continue over a number of months, giving learners the time and support they need to make lasting progress.

During the visit, Helen and Julie from Read Easy shared some truly inspiring stories, including:

• A mum who can now write her own shopping list

• A 79-year-old grandfather determined to read to his grandchildren

• A factory worker learning to read health and safety signs at work

These stories are a powerful reminder that literacy is far more than a practical skill. It builds confidence, independence and connection, while creating new opportunities in education and employment.

Delivered in partnership with Shropshire Community Foundation, the £15,000 Pave Aways Community Fund was established to support organisations helping local people in Wellington improve their prospects and realise their potential.

We’re pleased to have been appointed to carry out the main restoration works at Telford Town Park Amphitheatre 👷‍♂️🌳

Funded by Telford & Wrekin Council, with support from additional grants, the project will help bring this much-loved venue by Randlay Pool back into use as an outdoor space for events, performances and family activities 🎭

The amphitheatre was once a vibrant cultural hub, hosting live gigs and performances throughout the 1980s, and it’s great to be playing a part in bringing it back to life for the local community and visitors to enjoy for generations to come.

Works are due to start in June, with the reopening planned for July. Watch this space!

📢 TELFORD TOWN PARK AMPHITHEATRE REOPENING SOON! 📢

We’re thrilled to announce that Telford Town Park Amphitheatre is reopening in July. 💃🏽 💃🏽

We’re funding and restoring the popular amphitheatre to its former glory - creating a new outdoor events space for vibrant shows, performances and family events.

Works start early next month on the project which will create a space to be enjoyed by visitors and the community for generations to come. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 🐻

In its heyday in the 1980s, the amphitheatre located by Randlay Pool in the park off Silkin Way, was a vibrant cultural hub which hosted regular live gigs and performances.

To mark the opening an action-packed weekend of free family fun is planned at the amphitheatre for 18 and 19 July which is the start of the school summer holidays and there’s also other shows which will be staged at the arena in late July and August.

Several shows are also planned for the amphitheatre this summer as part of the Telford Theatre on Tour programme, with tickets now on sale. 🤲

A marathon-length challenge completed on the warmest day of 2026 - what a team! 👏

Yesterday, our incredible walkers completed 26 miles in under 11 hours, walking from Uffington, Shrewsbury to Wellington Market and back again in support of Alzheimer's Society 💙

It was a tough challenge made even harder by the hot weather, but the whole group showed brilliant teamwork and determination from start to finish - smiling through the pain for these photos! ☀️

🏅 A big shoutout to John, Cliff, Max, and Oscar, who walked the entire distance without needing to be tag-teamed. An amazing achievement!

They've made it to the half-way point at Wellington Market! 🥾👏

After 13 miles in this heat, our incredible walkers have reached the halfway point of today’s charity challenge in support of Alzheimer's Society 💙

Now comes the big push… retracing their steps and walking another 13 miles back to Uffington, Shrewsbury. Hot weather, tired legs and plenty of miles still to go, but the team are doing brilliantly! 😎☀️

To close off , our team are taking a fundraising challenge today in support of Alzheimer's Society 💙

Inspired by the Alzheimer’s Society challenge, our group of walkers (with a few four-legged friends joining them too!) are setting off from from Shrewsbury and walking to Wellington Market and back again to complete the 26-mile challenge.

We’ll be sharing updates from the team throughout the day, so keep an eye out as they take on the miles, and hopefully plenty of encouragement along the way!
