A new chapter for Telford Park School, ready for the new academic year 👇

The new two-storey block provides eight classrooms, alongside additional facilities, increasing the school’s capacity to up to 900 students.

⚡Solar panels and enhanced insulation have also been incorporated to improve the building’s energy efficiency and environmental performance.

With the new academic year underway, the building is now part of everyday school life, providing dedicated space for Year 7 students.

Thank you to Telford & Wrekin Council, Telford Park School, our supply chain partners and project team for all their hard work and collaboration throughout, achieving another excellent Considerate Constructors Scheme score 👏

👋 Welcome to the Pave Aways team, Ben, Bailey, Harley, James, and George!

August has brought five new faces to Pave Aways as we welcome our latest to the team. They’ve already spent the past few weeks settling into site life, getting to know their colleagues and starting to build the practical skills that will shape their careers in construction.

👷‍♂️ Ben Worrall and 👷‍♂️ Bailey Currier are both studying Level 2 Site Carpentry at Shrewsbury College, putting their training into practice on site alongside mentors Dave Woolhouse and former apprentice Dan Davies. They’re gaining hands-on experience, learning from those around them and developing the skills they’ll need to progress in the trade.

👷‍♂️ James Richardson and 👷‍♂️ Harley Rawlings-Jones are both studying the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative course with SBC Training, building a broad understanding of trades across different project sectors and learning from a range of experienced mentors.

👷‍♂️ George Blaxall is joining us for his second year of the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative course at Telford College where he'll be continuing to broaden his experience across different disciplines and develop his skills on site.

Apprenticeships are a key part of how we invest in the future of construction, giving the next generation the opportunity to learn from experienced teams, build practical skills and develop a career on site 👏

After 16 years, 6 months and 6 days, it’s time to say a big thank you and farewell to John Friend! 👏

John joined Pave Aways in February 2010 and, during his time as a Site Manager, helped deliver more than £13m of projects. His work included a number of major schemes at Concord College, as well as more recent projects including West Felton’s hall extension and Wellington Pool’s decarbonisation works.

Away from site, John has also been a fantastic supporter of our charity work, helping raise more than £10,000 through fundraising challenges including a sunrise hike up Snowdon and planning the mammoth 177-mile Offa’s D**e route. Earlier this year, he also completed a marathon-length walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society!

Thank you for everything, John, and for 16 years of hard work and commitment to Pave Aways 👏

🏆 Bronze for Wellington Market!

Our Wellington Market site has been recognised with a Bronze Considerate Constructors Scheme Award, following an outstanding 45/45 score at its latest monitor visit.

With Phase Three now approaching handover, there’s plenty happening at Wellington Market. The finishing touches are now being made to the new market stalls in this section, ready for traders to move into their new spaces 🛍️

🔨 What can you create with some leftover timber, a few pallets and a good bit of teamwork? A brilliant new bug hotel! 🐝🐛

We were pleased to provide the timber for this skill-building community project, helping to turn surplus materials into something that will provide a home for bees, beetles, butterflies and plenty of other small residents at Holmer Lake Community Orchard, while supporting local biodiversity.

The Pave Aways Charity Ball is just around the corner, and only a few tables remaining for what promises to be a brilliant evening in aid of Alzheimer's Society!

Join us on 18th September at Shrewsbury Croud Meadow for a black-tie evening hosted by Carl Jones, with a three-course meal, welcome drink, live entertainment and a charity auction, all while helping raise important funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

👷‍♂️ The true measure of a mentor is the people they inspire.

Congratulations to Paul Brooke, who has been shortlisted for Mentor of the Year at the 2026 Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards! 👏

Current carpentry apprentice Aaron put his mentor Paul forward for the award - and that speaks volumes about the impact Paul has had.

Having begun his own career with Pave Aways as an apprentice, Paul has since mentored eight apprentices, helping to shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

With a record number of entries this year, being named a finalist is a fantastic achievement. Very well deserved, Paul! 💙

👀 Take a look behind the curtain at Theatre Severn's transformation 👇

Our team are making great progress on the six-week refurbishment of the main auditorium. The existing seating and carpets have now been removed, the new seating was delivered to site this morning, and the installation of new glass balustrades to the upper tiers is well underway!

Completing in late August, the improvements will increase the theatre's capacity by around 10%, helping Theatre Severn welcome even more audiences for its autumn programme.
