As the Bank Holiday comes to an end, we’ve been busy getting the plumbing teaching bays at Oldham College finished and ready for handover ahead of the new academic year. 👷‍♂️🔨

The works have included new walls and doors to meet the required 60-minute fire rating, fire stopping works, anti-slip resin flooring, full decoration works throughout, along with mechanical and electrical works.

It’s great to see the spaces coming together and ready to provide a safe, practical and professional environment for students starting the new academic year. 🏫

Another project nearing completion and one the team can be proud of. 👏

🏗️ Werneth Primary School – SEND Extension Progress Update 🏫

Work is progressing well on the new extension at Werneth Primary School, which will provide enhanced facilities for SEND provision.

The foundations and substructure are now complete, with the building footprint and internal structure taking shape. The external masonry walls are now being constructed, giving a real sense of the scale and layout of the new extension.

The canopy has also now been installed over the upper playground, providing valuable covered outdoor space for pupils and further enhancing the school’s facilities. ☂️🏫

The next key stage will be the installation of the block and beam flooring, which will form the floor structure and allow the project to progress into the next phase of construction.

A big shout-out to Mike Webster for his hard work, organisation and coordination on site, helping to keep the project moving forward. 👏

We’d also like to recognise Vanguard for their excellent work on the brickwork. The quality of the masonry is already making a real difference as the new building starts to take shape. 🧱👏

It’s fantastic to see this important project progressing and the new SEND facilities becoming a reality. We look forward to sharing more updates as construction continues!

Litherland High School – Project Update

We’re pleased to share a progress update from Litherland High School in Liverpool, where works are progressing well.

Our team is currently carrying out a comprehensive programme of refurbishment works, including demolition and removal of existing flooring and suspended ceiling tiles to allow the new works to proceed. We’re also constructing new partition walls and installing new vinyl flooring, ceiling tiles and fire doors, alongside new furniture, fittings and equipment.

The project also includes the installation of new sanitaryware, mechanical and electrical works, and decoration throughout as required.

A key milestone this week will be LAB UK fitting their furniture on Tuesday, helping to bring the newly refurbished spaces together and move the project another step closer to completion.

It’s great to see the project taking shape, and we’re continuing to work closely with the wider project team to ensure the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

We look forward to sharing further progress as the project continues.

🚧 Exciting progress at Orchard Primary School! 🚧

MBC are proud to be delivering the replacement of the school’s existing parking facility, creating a safer, more accessible environment for pupils, staff, parents, and visitors ahead of the new school year.

The project includes:
✅ New drainage connections
✅ Energy-efficient lighting
✅ New access gates
✅ Dedicated pedestrian walkways
✅ A fully resurfaced car park with new parking bays
✅ Additional landscaping to enhance the site

Safeguarding has been a key consideration throughout the design, with improved pedestrian routes, controlled access points, and a safer separation between vehicles and pedestrians helping to provide a more secure environment for the whole school community.

Protecting the environment has also been a priority from day one. Working alongside the school and the design team, we’ve carefully adapted the scheme to retain the existing trees and preserve as much of the surrounding vegetation as possible, supporting both the school’s green ambitions and our own commitment to sustainable construction.

Working to a challenging six-week programme, our team is focused on completing the project in time for the start of the new school term, delivering a high-quality facility that will benefit the school community for years to come.

MBC Building Contractors NW are delighted to announce that we have been successfully awarded four lots on the new CPC Framework.

This achievement is a significant milestone for our business and reflects the dedication, expertise and hard work of our entire team. Being appointed to the framework provides public sector organisations with a compliant and efficient route to procure our services, while giving MBC the opportunity to support a wider range of construction and refurbishment projects across the region. CPC frameworks are designed to provide public sector clients with access to pre-approved, high-quality contractors through a streamlined procurement process.

Darren Lowe, Managing Director at Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC) said:

“We are pleased to welcome MBC Building Contractors NW Ltd onto the Crescent Construction Framework. Their appointment across the lots strengthens the choice and capability available to our members, giving all public-sector organisations, including the education sector access to experienced regional contractors who have a strong track record in delivering high-quality construction projects.

The framework has been designed to provide compliant, flexible and efficient routes to market for a wide range of capital works, and GMI’s inclusion will support members in procuring projects that deliver value, quality, and long-term benefits across all public sectors.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the tender process and all our clients, partners, and suppliers for their continued support.

We look forward to working with framework members and delivering successful projects that make a positive difference to local communities.
