A fence doesn't just mark a boundary — it needs to work with the land.

One of our completed post and rail fencing projects. Located Near Bow, Devon.

A substantial run of timber fencing installed across open pasture, providing a practical and attractive boundary while sitting naturally within the surrounding Devon countryside.

Post and rail remains a popular choice for paddocks, equestrian properties, smallholdings and larger estates.

At Sorrel CMS, we install fencing to suit the site, the use and the surrounding landscape.

🌿 FENCING & HEDGELAYING — WORK FROM SORREL CMS

From practical livestock fencing to traditional hedgelaying, we work with the landscape rather than against it.

📸 Good fencing starts with good construction.
The first image shows a close-up of a recently installed fence, in this case, adding protection to fruit and vegetables grown in the garden.

🌳 Hedgelaying is more than simply cutting a hedge back.
The second image shows a completed traditional hedgelaying project. Hedgelaying can create a dense, stock-proof boundary while encouraging new growth from the base.

🐴 And sometimes it's all about keeping things simple.
The third image shows a traditional post-and-rail fence providing a strong, practical boundary across open ground. In this case we bolstered the fence by removing damaged posts and rotten rails.

At Sorrel CMS, we undertake fencing and hedgerow work across Devon, from small domestic jobs through to larger countryside projects.

Looking to create a safe, secure boundary for your home, garden or pets? 🏡🐶

Here's one of our recently completed fencing projects, featuring approximately 90 metres of high-quality horse netting with triple timber rails, supported by robust square posts. The installation also included a 10ft access gate and a 4ft pedestrian gate.

Whether you're keeping dogs safely contained, protecting your garden, or creating a secure boundary for your property, we can tailor a fencing solution to suit your needs.

Our compact tractor and post knocker allow us to install fencing efficiently across most sites, and we have a petrol post knocker for those more difficult-to-access areas.

If you're considering a new fence for your home or would like a free, no-obligation quotation, get in touch—we'd be happy to help.

Our recent work Nr Crediton - Approx 85m of stock fence with double strand of wire with a double gate installation. This was, in part to afford the owners a dog proof boundary and to formalise the garden and entranceway.

These gates are 6ft, sturdy, diamond braced gates from a local supplier and fitted to a larger diameter 7 inch gate post with a four way (chamfer) top. Dog proofing continues with an added bottom rail and in addition, rails leading into the bank.

I made a gate for the side entrance with 4x2 for the frame and finished off with 4ft pales (these are great as you can buy them individually). We reused the original vintage brackets (which you can't quite see from the image) at the owners request.

On the team this week was Tina Equichanics - Tina Fitzgibbon and Steve Brooks - oh, best not forget Sorrel dog too!

Next week we are Dog Fencing near our home village of Bow, Ill post some photos of that over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, if you need a boundary managed or a fence installed or repaired call Sorrel CMS for a free quote or consulation.
