𝗚𝘆𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🚧

Today marked the first of our special Gyropiler demonstrations, delivered in collaboration with GIKEN at our central facilities in Nuneaton.

Following breakfast and introductions, our visitors enjoyed a presentation before heading out for a site tour and live demonstration of the Gyropress method in action.

👷‍♂️Another productive Health & Safety Workshop and Committee meeting at our Nuneaton hub, with colleagues from across the business coming together to review, discuss and share feedback.

As well as working through our usual committee actions, we use the session to debrief some important updates to our RAMS and working procedures, such as:

🔹 Plant, Vehicle & Pedestrian Management
🔹 Emergency Preparedness & Response
🔹 Safe Use of Pressure Washers

Importantly, these sessions aren't just about reviewing paperwork. We actively encourage questions, feedback and ideas from our teams - because the people doing the work are often best placed to identify what works well and where improvements can be made. Another positive example of our ongoing commitment to keeping each other safe.

People are at the heart of our business, and we work better when we collaborate as a team. 🤝

Seven years ago, in August 2019, Toddbrook Reservoir in Whaley Bridge became the centre of a major emergency when extreme rainfall caused the partial collapse of the auxiliary spillway, leading to the evacuation of around 1,500 residents from the Derbyshire town.

Fast forward seven years, and the long-running restoration project is now entering its final stages, with the reservoir slowly refilling so it can become fully operational again and resume its primary role of supplying water to the Macclesfield and Peak Forest Canals.

The Canal & River Trust has led this major engineering scheme, and Ivor King - The Piling People were proud to play our part by providing specialist piling services on the project.

Our Case Study video, filmed in 2023, showcases the work our team carried out on site, including the installation of over 1,000 steel sheet piles and nearly 500 CFA piles for the new spillway and tumble bay.

A challenging project, a significant engineering achievement, and another example of specialist piling helping to deliver critical infrastructure.

Tonight, the sun and the moon are getting together… 🌒☀️

The UK will be treated to a rare partial solar eclipse - an incredible natural phenomenon, but one that should always be enjoyed safely.

You can view a Leader Rig through a hole in a sheet pile, but NEVER look directly at the Sun without certified solar viewing protection.

Retinal damage from UV exposure can happen silently and painlessly, meaning you may not realise your eyes have been damaged until it’s too late.

Regular sunglasses (no matter how dark) aren’t enough. And never look at the Sun through binoculars, telescopes, or directly through your phone or camera screen.

Your eyes are precious. 👀
