It’s that time again — EICR reports are starting to land following the 5-year rental inspection cycle.

If you have rental properties, now’s the time to check your certification dates and make sure you’re compliant.

Don’t get caught out — stay ahead of it.

Had the pleasure of showing a local electrician around a smart home project we recently completed.

He brought his client along — and seeing the system live made everything click.

Lighting, shading, audio, energy monitoring with solar, air source heat pump & UFH control, intercom, access control and CCTV… all running through one app.

The feedback was great, and off the back of that both the electrician and his client have now asked us to fully spec their project, using the same structured approach we’re already delivering across a 14-house development in Nottingham.

This is where smart homes really start to scale:
• Proven systems, not one-off designs
• Clear wiring schedules and panels
• Programming done once, deployed properly

It’s a good example of how collaboration between electricians and system designers can raise the standard for everyone — without overcomplicating installs.

Smart homes work best when they’re designed from the start, not bolted on at the end.

Happy to help anyone looking to approach smart homes this way — DM me if that’s you.

Called out to a customers house yesterday after two electricians had already attended.

One charged £270 for the call-out, yet the property was still without power.

To be clear — the charge itself isn’t the issue.
What matters is what the customer is left with.

When someone pays for a call-out, they should come away with at least one of the following:
✔ Power restored
✔ A clear diagnosis
✔ Evidence of what’s been tested
✔ A plan for the next steps

Where people lose confidence is when none of that happens.

Electrical fault-finding shouldn’t be guesswork.
A structured, methodical approach saves time, money, and stress — even if the repair can’t be completed immediately.

If you’re dealing with an electrical issue and want clear answers, proper testing, and straight talking, feel free to get in touch.
