One of our client's stories about how they were nearly affected by this scam in their works: Mark and Russ from Warm for Life, Beeston, Nottingham. "As the weather gets colder we get more people ringing us with regards to their boiler. This year scammers have taken this opportunity to try and edit our Google My Business pages, in an attempt to capture and rip off our customers, whilst disguising themselves as Warm for Life.We were really lucky in that we're tech savvy and work closely with our web company so we were both alerted to this change and immediately responded. However I worry that those without the proper support and customers that are not aware of this scam could fall victim." So how do you stay protected? As business owners:- Do you own your Google My Business page?- Are your alerts set up with an up to date email address?- Where possible use 2 factor authenticationAs a customer you need to make sure:- You are ringing the correct number by visiting the plumber or heating engineer's website- Do not give out payment details until the engineer is on site- Ask for identification If you've been affected or are worried about getting caught out, please visit wigwag.co.uk and ask us for a FREE Google My Business health check.
