GONE!

It's been a while without any log offers, but here's a nice little pile of cherry logs at the junction of Mayflower Close and Eltham Road in West Bridgford.

Squeezed in a bit of emergency works for a Ladybay customer who'd had a huge branch snap out of a willow tree. The whole stem was rotten through and a lot of it fell apart when we felled it! A tricky one next to a fence and garden building and now leaning on a smaller sycamore that we managed to preserve πŸ‘Œ

Bit of a public service announcement: Ermine moths

(You need to zoom in on the pic a bit, I didn't want to send close-ups as bugs are a bit gross for some people!)

We had a customer recently worried about a huge amount of cobweb type structures with caterpillars everywhere on a bird cherry tree. The caterpillars had eaten almost every leaf on the tree and she's was understandably concerned. Another tree surgeon (who will remain nameless!) had told her that it was an invasive species and the tree needed felling immediately and all waste incinerated.

Ermine moth caterpillars (white with 2 lines of black dots along the length) are not a danger to a tree, they're an important part of the ecosystem that provide important food source for birds. It'll make your tree look like it's been decorated for Halloween for about 2 months and then it's over. The leaves will return and the tree will be fine πŸ™‚
