Meet Mandy 👋

We’re delighted to introduce Mandy Garewal properly, Deputy MD at Horizon, as part of our latest Meet the Staff feature.

Since joining Horizon three months ago, Mandy has been getting to know the industry, our customers and, most importantly, the people who make the business what it is.

With a background in transformation and a real passion for supporting people, Mandy is focused on helping Horizon continue to grow, strengthen collaboration across our Group and share best practice between our OpCos.

Her approach? Curiosity, listening and patience - along with staying focused on the end goal and taking pride in the quality of your work.

Outside of work, Mandy is a proud Man United fan ⚽, loves travelling and walking, and enjoys dressing up in her Indian attire - particularly as her sons have both recently got married! 💍

We’re delighted to welcome Scott Gell to Horizon in his new role as Operations Manager – Work at Height.

Scott joins us with over 12 years’ experience as a Project Engineer and Manager, having delivered major projects across the power generation, petrochemical and heavy industry sectors in the UK and internationally, including Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.

His experience spans project and team management, health & safety and compliance, client relationships, resource planning, cost control, scheduling, procurement and contract management - bringing a fantastic breadth of knowledge to the role.

At Horizon, Scott will be supporting our Steeplejack and Masts & Towers teams, as well as providing advice and support across our Fall Arrest operations and Work at Height contracts. He’ll also be out and about visiting sites, meeting clients, quoting and auditing works.

Scott holds a Civil Engineering degree, is IOSH Managing Safely certified and is currently working towards his NEBOSH certificate.

Please join us in giving Scott a very warm welcome to Horizon. We’re looking forward to seeing the experience and expertise he brings to the team and wish him every success in his new role!

Introducing: Richard! 🎉

We’re delighted to welcome Richard Payne to Horizon as our new Commercial Director.

Richard will be heading up our sales team, taking the lead on our commercial strategy, key account and business development, and growth as we continue to build on Horizon’s strong position across all service areas.

His role will include developing new opportunities, strengthening relationships with our existing clients and partners and working closely with our Sales, operations, finance and wider Vadella Group teams to drive sustainable growth.

Most importantly, Richard will be leading, inspiring and developing our commercial team - creating a high-performance culture with clear goals, accountability and plenty of opportunities for growth.

With a focus on building long-term client partnerships, expanding our market presence and identifying new opportunities for Horizon, we’re excited to see what the future holds.

This week, we're introducing Chris Beasley, our Safety Systems Project Manager. With 13 years in the industry and 9 years at Horizon, Chris oversees our height safety projects from initial survey right through to commissioning, ensuring every installation is completed safely and to the highest standard.

From tackling complex installations in challenging environments to earning customer recommendations through quality service, Chris brings a wealth of experience and a practical, solutions-focused approach to every project.

Take a few minutes to get to know Chris and learn what he enjoys most about his role, the challenges he's overcome, and the advice he'd share with clients and colleagues.

From managing client contracts and preparing detailed inspection reports to coordinating multiple projects and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, Arrieanne plays a vital role in delivering the high standard of service our clients expect.

Let's start the week off right! ☀️

When people think about working at height, they often picture the view. We tend to think about everything else.

Every mast and tower has a story to tell. A small patch of corrosion, a loose fixing or a damaged coating might not look like much, but these are often the first signs that maintenance is needed. Catching these issues early can make all the difference, helping to avoid more extensive repairs further down the line.

One of the things we enjoy most about this type of work is getting up close to structures that most people only ever see from the ground. It gives us a completely different perspective and allows us to spot defects that simply wouldn't be visible from below.

No two structures are ever the same, which is what makes every inspection different. Whether we're carrying out a routine condition survey or responding to a repair, the goal is always the same: keeping critical infrastructure safe, reliable and in service.
