We go way back with Josh and Okende, back to their first coffee shop in West Bridgford and the early days of Boyes Design when we we’re a team of just two, so it feels particularly special to have designed and made their new space on Broad Street in Nottingham.

Originally two separate retail units, we opened up the interior and placed the bar at the centre, connecting both sides of the space and creating a natural flow from ordering through to sitting down.

The making of coffee is part of the experience here, with the open bar designed so the team can stay connected with customers as they work.

Natural oak, brushed stainless steel, terracotta and exposed concrete create a simple, warm palette, with bespoke joinery, display and lighting designed throughout.

A new space for Okende, with a familiar feel.

We’re really proud of how this one has come together, with some really talented teams alongside us, taking on the bar and the tiling.

A huge congratulations to Josh and the whole Okende team, it was such a pleasure as always to work alongside you.

Make sure you go and have a look for yourself, and for the love of all do yourself a favour and get a pastry with your coffee, their bakery is also insanely good.

Every finished piece has a story long before it’s installed.

Behind every kitchen, wardrobe and interior is a workshop full of ideas, conversations, problem solving and craftsmanship. It all starts with people and our team, in our hands wood is shaped, details are refined and thoughtful design becomes something tangible.

We believe the care that goes into making is just as important as the finished piece and people are at the centre of all we do.

Outdoor spaces deserve the same level of thought as the interiors they accompany. Carefully considered materials and robust detailing create places that invite people to gather, whatever the weather. In climates where the seasons are always shifting, designing for outdoor living isn’t about chasing the sun, it’s about creating spaces people are drawn to throughout the year.

This project was such a privilege to be involved with. From its conception, our focus was on distilling the well established brand’s priorities of community, timeless design and craftsmanship into a space that would reflect its identity and welcome visitors for many years to come.

Warm oak, textured and reeded glass contrast with the black stained oak bar, Domoos Black worktop and Iroko outdoor covered terrace, creating a timeless and inviting environment.

We believe in capturing the essence of a brand within a space, for the people who use it every day, and this project is a reflection of that.

Restful, minimalist bedrooms that retain a richness of texture, character and natural light are spaces we’re naturally drawn to. A restrained material palette, integrated storage and tactile finishes create a calm backdrop, allowing the architecture to take centre stage. This bedroom was designed around simplicity, but never at the expense of warmth.
