Chesterfield College: Upgrade Works Progressing

Our team is currently delivering a key phase of works at Chesterfield College, forming part of the wider programme of major upgrades and improvements.

Every phase is planned with strict safety, segregation and communication measures in place to protect staff, students and visitors while maintaining smooth day to day activity.

Current works include:

- Soft strip on the top floor, first floor and ground floor
- Soft strip throughout the North Block
- Bridge separation from the live building, with the TRD team safely managing the controlled break out
- Window protection installed to safeguard retained areas
- Waste management, including loading and skip operations
- Demolition of North Block 1, supervised by a dedicated banksman
- Lift shaft cutting using a shear attachment
- Processing stress beams, with munching operations running throughout the day
- Damping down to maintain dust control and safe working conditions

This is a busy, well sequenced programme supporting the college's wider investment in modernising and improving its facilities.

Volvo + J45 Crusher on the Move: North London to Hucknall

Our new Volvo Trucks has been putting in the miles again, this time heading down to North London to collect our McCloskey International J45 Crusher and bring it back to HQ in Hucknall.

This was a smooth heavy-haul all the way home, ready for a full check over from the team before it's straight back out onto its next job.

New Volvo + 50T Komatsu on the Move

Our new Volvo has been stretching its legs, heading out from our Hucknall HQ loaded with our 50-tonne Komatsu PC490 for works in Market Harborough.

This is a serious bit of kit paired with a serious truck, all fully escorted by our own team to ensure safe travel.

Another smooth movement, another busy day for the fleet.

Nottingham City Netball Club has been part of the city's sporting fabric since 1963, and it's fantastic to see the team continuing to grow, develop and perform with this level of energy.

Arthur Mee Centre, Stapleford: Demolition Works Complete

Our demolition project at the Arthur Mee Centre in Stapleford is now complete, marking the end of a careful, controlled phase ahead of the site's transformation. We're proud to have played a part in preparing this historic building for its next chapter.

This was a sensitive project with tight boundaries and neighbouring gardens, so every step was engineered for precision and safety:

- Walls reduced by hand to prevent debris entering adjacent properties
- Steels cut using oxy propane burning equipment, and were halved for safe removal by hand and skip loading
- Full soft strip carried out using hand demolition techniques
- Substructure removed and all materials transported to licensed waste facilities

With the demolition phase now complete, the site is ready for redevelopment and for a future that will bring meaningful community benefit.

TRD Takes on a Charity Golf Tournament…Sort of ⛳

A few weeks ago, our Directors Melvyn and Martin, along with our Project Manager Stephen and Phil, one of our industry colleagues, headed over to Radcliffe for a charity golf tournament.

Now, we could tell you what position they finished in.
We could pretend they were gliding round the course like four Nottingham Tiger Woods.
We could say the leaderboard was shaking in fear.

But let's just say this:
They definitely turned up.
They definitely swung the clubs.
And they definitely had a great time raising money for a brilliant cause.

As for the final position; let's just call it "character building" and move on.

Well done lads. Might want to stick to demolition. 😉
