Project Update | Pilton Bluecoat Academy, Devon
Recently, our team visited Pilton Bluecoat Academy in Devon, where works are progressing on a major low-carbon heating upgrade.
The school is replacing its existing heating system with a new air source heat pump (ASHP), helping to significantly reduce carbon emissions while providing a more efficient and sustainable heating solution for pupils and staff.
Alongside the ASHP installation, a new solar PV system is also being installed. By generating renewable electricity on-site, the solar PV will help power the heat pump and is expected to reduce its running costs by up to 80%, delivering substantial long-term energy savings.
Our photos show the progress of the internal pipework installation, with new copper heating distribution pipework being routed through the ceiling spaces as the project takes shape.
It’s great to see another school investing in sustainable infrastructure that will reduce both energy costs and environmental impact for years to come.
