It was our pleasure to welcome Eva to PRP last week for her work experience.

Eva approached us looking for a placement in the industry as she is keen to pursue architecture as a career. In her time with us we got her fully involved in taking a client's brief and assessing the site's constraints and parameters, before researching and understanding specific requirements, and then working up a set of plans, elevations and SketchUp model design. She also spent some time with our Architectural Assistant Apprentice Gaby to learn and understand more about the apprentice role as this was a route she was keen on.

Well done Eva and good luck for the future!

💫Enjoying dark skies! 💫

After the world turned their eyes to the skies this week for the solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor showers, it's great to see our clients Kelling Heath Holiday Park hosting stargazing events that are proving very popular for their customers.

https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/26443483.kelling-heath-holiday-park-host-wild-sky-weekend/

The site is a prime example of the dark skies strategy, and the principle of minimising upward light pollution, which is now a common requirement in planning applications. PRP have been involved with a number of projects over the years and the dark skies policy adopted by the Park is always an important part of schemes.

Please join us in celebrating the fantastic achievements of our Architectural Assistant Apprentice, Gaby, who has just completed year two of her Architecture degree at London South Bank University.

As part of her work, Gaby produced a series of impressive renders of the iconic Vennesla Library in Norway (chosen with a little help from Craig!) Gaby modeled the building in SketchUp before bringing it to life through Lumion and Photoshop, showcasing her ever-expanding skills in architectural practice. Alongside her design work, her essay and written work continues to improve, having received excellent feedback for her ‘Recasting Modernism in the Human City’ essay - which gained another much-deserved distinction recognising the hard work, dedication and commitment she shows not only in her studies, but in her role here at PRP too.

Congratulations Gaby, we love having you as part of the team and watching as you've continued to learn and develop here at PRP.

Wishing PRP Partner Craig Liversidge all the luck in the world for his Trek26 for Alzheimer's Society - taking place tomorrow!

26 miles is not a small undertaking, and we're very proud of him! He's already raised a phenomenal amount of money for this worthwhile cause, as the charity works towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

It's fantastic to see a client, and project, thriving!

We worked with The Coach House Suffolk in Carlton Colville to convert their former function room into eight en-suite apartments and a cabin accommodation. They are already proving to be a hit, receiving superb guest feedback ready for the summer season ahead!

The project was completed alongside Gilbert Builders.

We recently welcomed Tom Carter from Jane Austen College to PRP for his work experience placement. Tom took part in an architectural feasibility exercise, exploring some of the key stages of early design, from reviewing a brief and considering context, through to sketching ideas, testing layouts, developing simple massing in SketchUp, and preparing visuals to communicate his concept.

He also presented his work back to the team, reflecting on the process, the challenges he encountered, and the skills he developed during his time with us.

Tom said:“I have really enjoyed these past few days, it has helped me develop skills needed not just for architecture, but the working world.”

Well done Tom, it was great to have you with us and we wish you the best for the future.

A recently completed project of two houses on Marine Parade, Gorleston. Replacing an outdated single dwelling with two carefully considered contemporary homes and revitalising a prominent coastal plot.

The three-storey houses incorporate 5 bedrooms, plus a study and extensive kitchen and open-plan living spaces including balconies overlooking Gorleston's award winning beach!

Throughout the design process, careful attention was given to scale, massing and roof forms to ensure the proposals sit comfortably within the established character of the street, reflecting the varied roofscape and proportions found along Marine Parade.

PRP handled design, planning and building regulations approval for the project, ensuring a seamless process for our client.

We're delighted that planning permission has been secured for our project at The Swan Inn in Mattishall, near Dereham, Norfolk - as covered by BBC Norfolk.

With extensive refurbishment, the project will restore a currently closed community pub as an asset to the village.

Martyn Riches and Steven Lucas (a former pub landlord himself!) provided planning consultancy for both refurbishment and the extension, including: remedial works, improvements to fire protection and safety, improving accessibility in the internal layout design and entrance, plus guidance on heritage matters due to Mattishall being in a conversation area.

They are now currently working their way through the building regulations for the next phase of the project.

Last week, we visited Burgh House Residential Care Home’s Open Day.

It was a pleasure to return to this lovely community, where residential care is taken to the next level through exceptional facilities and thoughtful provision for their residents.

As partnering consultant, PRP is proud to be part of their journey. We’re excited that their new fully accessible apartments, designed by PRP, are soon to commence on site.

We look forward to seeing the next phase come to life.
