Nice to stop and take stock of this garden that I designed + planted a couple of years back in Brundall - things have grown into bold, colourful clusters and the colours have worked out well - really loving the frothy purple Smoke Bush and also the Black Elder as a backdrop to the pale Echinops thistles and other contrasting foliage. The Alliums passed their peak in May, and the structural flowerheads remain for interest, but the lingering, less interesting foliage is shrouded by the strong presence of the thistles, as planned - so glad that worked. Love this midsummer moment with so much coming into its best.
