Another irregular Hip (Bastard Hip) but just to make things even more painful they stick a projection on the front which the valley lands dead on the hip rafter. This has to be bang on to ensure it all runs in and yes you guessed it...... It did 😁💪😜

Just some joists completed recently. Got to say I do love the new system where the perimeter noggins are just a 4x1 timber laid into a routered out notch. 🤣

Need to get better at taking photos and uploading more. Will be making it a goal this year to at least try and remember to take a photo or 2.

Irregular Hip (Bastard Hip because that's what they are) on a squint house. I must admit I do enjoy working these out and more thought has gone into these from the last time I done one.

The only thing I hated was all the metal work, hangers, joiners, strong ties. When did hand cut roofs become so concerning that all this metal is required.

So I had the joys of this last week, a utility make over done for a client.

This is an old country barn and they wanted the utility swapping around with some new units and bespoke extras made to their requirements. With the odd additional items thrown in, we put in the extra effort by giving it a go making the items they had described. It’s fair to say I loved doing this as it’s so different and I don’t get the chance to give new stuff a go. They clients loved it and I unlocked some new skills 🔨

While working on a customers extension, I was asked if I could help out the local scouts group in building some form of robust benches for the new camp set up.
The builder/ developer donated sleepers and I happily agreed to volunteer and donate my time especially as it was a local group in the community I live in.

After a few hours on a Saturday I managed to knocked up 3 large Benches. Now smooth with rounded edges & robust enough to withstand the activities thrown at them. Well for a few year I hope 😂 🛠️🔨🔨 ❤️
