WHAT DOES A KITCHEN INSTALLATION ACTUALLY COST?

💷 “How much does it cost to have a kitchen fitted?”

The difficult answer is: it depends what you mean by “fitted”.

A straightforward replacement with the layout staying the same is very different from a full renovation involving:

• Removing the existing kitchen
• Electrical alterations
• Plumbing changes
• Plastering and preparation
• Flooring
• New cabinetry and worktops
• Decorating and finishing

That’s why comparing two kitchen quotations based purely on the final figure can be misleading — they may not actually include the same job.

ONE COMPANY OR SEPARATE TRADES?

👷 Is it cheaper to organise all the trades for your renovation yourself?

Potentially.

But there’s another question worth asking:

Who is going to manage everything?

A kitchen or bathroom renovation isn't one job. It’s a sequence of different jobs that all depend on each other.

If you book everybody separately, you become the project manager.

That means arranging the schedule, coordinating trades, ordering materials, dealing with delays and working out who is responsible when something doesn’t quite line up.

For some homeowners, that works perfectly well.

Others would rather have one company responsible for getting the finished room delivered.

HOW MANY TRADES DOES A BATHROOM REALLY NEED?

HOW LONG DOES A BATHROOM RENOVATION TAKE?

🚿 “How long are we actually going to be without our bathroom?”

It’s one of the first questions we’re asked when somebody is considering a bathroom renovation.

For most projects, the answer is around one to three weeks — but the actual timescale depends on much more than simply how quickly the bathroom can be fitted.

Strip-out, plumbing, electrics, preparation, plastering, tiling, flooring and finishing all need to happen in the right order.

Then there are the things that can cause delays: materials arriving late, decisions being made halfway through the job, hidden problems uncovered during strip-out and gaps between separately booked trades.

A little bathroom walkthrough from one of our recent projects.

This one was all about making the best use of the space while keeping everything clean, practical and easy to live with. From the large vanity and storage to the raised shower area and simple grey finishes, every part of the room was planned around what the customer wanted.

It’s always good to look back at a finished project and see how all the different parts have come together.
