Turning unused space into something properly useful.

This family needed more storage, so I designed and built this bespoke cabinet for the landing at the top of their stairs. The shelving was made to follow the angle precisely, maximising every inch of space and creating room for books, photos and those all-important bits and pieces.

Generous cupboard storage below features soft-close doors and adjustable shelving, while retaining access to the existing electrical socket when needed—keeping the landing looking clean and uncluttered.

This project wasn’t just about creating beautiful alcove display cabinets. Not just about designing them so they look like they’ve always been part of the room. It was about helping to solve a problem. Figuring out how to create a space to store media hub electronics neatly, whilst also maintaining access to important plumbing on the back wall beside the fireplace. So we created lower cabinetry on the left side with removable shelving and back panel. This kept access to the plumbing, whilst also creating a void to store all those unsightly and complicated wires. Inside the cabinet is nothing but neat, tidy and organised.
Soft LED lighting from runs underneath shelves in both units. If it’s bright daytime backlighting or a low nighttime ambience, all options are covered by the single discreet dimmable switch.
Oak drawer boxes from Finsa UK tie into the oak floor, and soft closing drawers and cupboard doors stop little fingers getting trapped thanks to Blum UK.
Farrow & Ball Card Room Green works perfectly alongside the oak and brick.

I was asked to create a bespoke desk, unique to the space and matching existing decor. Oak drawer boxes bring an element of warmth with the soft closing under mounted drawer runners giving a clean aesthetic free from unsightly hardware. Shaker style drawer fronts set into the cabinet frame, with skirting wrapped around the bottom to finish off the built in look.
