What is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified document that provides transparent information about the environmental performance of a product throughout its lifecycle.

As sustainability considerations continue to play an important role in construction, EPDs can help support informed product selection and provide environmental data for project assessments.

One number. One less thing to remember.

We’ve been listening to our customers.

Following feedback from our 2025 Customer Satisfaction Survey, we heard that having different sales numbers across our product brands could make it harder to know who to call.

So, we’ve made a change.

0330 123 1017 is now the primary sales number for Forterra.

Whether you’re getting in touch about clay bricks, aircrete, aggregate blocks, brick specials, brick slips or Red Bank products, you now only need one number.

And we’ve made things simpler behind the scenes too. Intelligent call routing helps direct your call to the right team, so you can get the support you need without having to navigate multiple numbers or select different options.

Our existing product-specific numbers will continue to work for now and will automatically forward to 0330 123 1017, but we’d encourage you to update your records and save our new number.

We’d like to hear from you.

Earlier this week, we sent our latest customer NPS survey to customers across Forterra, giving you the opportunity to tell us how we’re doing.

If you receive an email inviting you to take part, it is a genuine Forterra customer survey. For most Forterra customers, the email will come from Nikki Prosser, Head of Customer Experience, while our Bison customers will receive theirs from Gary Bell, National Sales Manager.

We’d really appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete it. Your feedback helps us understand what’s working well, where we could do better and where there may be opportunities to improve the service and support we provide.

Whether your feedback is positive, constructive or somewhere in between, it all helps us understand the customer experience and where we need to focus our efforts.

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome the Worshipful Company of Tylers & Bricklayers to our Desford factory.

The visit began with an introduction to Forterra, covering what we do, our approach to innovation and how we work with customers to develop solutions for the future.

The presentation was followed by a tour of the factory, giving the group the opportunity to see our operations first-hand and get a closer look at the process behind the products we manufacture.

It was a great opportunity to open our doors and share more about the business, our manufacturing operations and our plans for the future with people who have such a strong connection to the brick industry.

100 years of Stewartby. And a story that’s closely connected to our own!

This weekend, Stewartby will celebrate 100 years of its history – a history that is intrinsically linked to brickmaking and, in particular, London Brick.

The village grew alongside the brickmaking industry, with London Brick playing a major role in shaping both the local landscape and the community around it.

A century later, that connection remains visible in the buildings, the architecture and the stories that have been passed down through generations.

The celebrations this Saturday will bring some of that history to life, with London Brick lorries, memorabilia and archive footage on display at Stewartby Village Hall.

For us, it’s a great reminder that brick is about much more than the buildings we create. It becomes part of the places, communities and stories that stand for generations.

How do you deliver a traditional brick façade on a 33-storey building in the heart of Birmingham?

Crown Place, a new student accommodation scheme, presented a number of challenges. With 814 student bedrooms and a 33-storey tower, delivering a brick façade at this scale required a different approach.

The solution was Forterra’s SureBrick Brick Slip System, with more than 540,000 Medway Blend brick slips applied to prefabricated façade panels in a controlled factory environment before being transported to site.

This offsite approach helped simplify installation at height while retaining the traditional appearance of a brick-built façade.

The finished development combines a striking brick exterior with extensive student accommodation and communal spaces, creating a new addition to Birmingham’s city centre.

At Forterra, restoring and responsibly managing former quarry sites is an important part of our commitment to protecting and enhancing biodiversity.

This year's 48-hour BioBlitz at Kings D**e Nature Reserve provides another encouraging measure of that progress. Volunteers and wildlife experts identified a record 1,010 species, including 72 species never before recorded at the reserve, while also achieving the site's highest-ever moth count.

The annual BioBlitz plays an important role in monitoring biodiversity, helping us understand how habitats are developing and informing future conservation work. Today, around 3,400 species have been recorded at Kings D**e – demonstrating what's possible through long-term habitat restoration and stewardship.

As Tim Darling, Head of Land & Mineral Resources at Forterra, says:

"Kings D**e demonstrates how restored mineral sites can become thriving ecosystems that deliver lasting benefits for nature."
