WATER FROM A RIVER OR LAKE
If you have access to a river, lake or suitable well, our **River and Lake Pump Package** provides a practical way to use this water for garden and landscape irrigation.
This can be particularly useful during a hosepipe ban, when the use of mains water may be restricted. In England, you can normally abstract up to 20,000 litres (20m³) per day from a river or lake without requiring an Environment Agency abstraction licence, although you should always check for any current local restrictions.
The package includes a DAB auto-start submersible pump, suspension equipment, disc filter and 25m of MDPE pipe, and can be connected to either sprinklers or a dripline irrigation system.
Natural water may be freely available, but it should still be used responsibly. During prolonged dry weather, river and lake levels can be under considerable pressure, so only take the water you need and choose efficient irrigation methods wherever possible. Dripline is particularly useful for delivering water directly to the plants while reducing evaporation and wastage.
