🏗️ LEICESTER EXTENSION | ANOTHER PROGRESS UPDATE!

Things are really starting to take shape on our 37m² single-storey extension in Leicester!

Here’s what we’ve been working on recently 👇

🔥 UNDERFLOOR HEATING
We’ve chosen Fastwarm for the underfloor heating system. Stan walks through the product and shows the pipework layout, ready for the next stages of the floor installation.

🪟 WINDOWS INSTALLED
The new windows are now fitted, bringing us another step closer to getting the extension finished.

🔨 ENSUITE & INTERNAL WORKS
The ensuite stud walls have now been covered with plywood, providing additional support and a solid backing for future fixtures.

⚡ ELECTRICAL & PLUMBING
We’re currently working through the electrical and plumbing installations before moving forward with plasterboarding and the remaining internal finishes.

It’s all about getting the work behind the walls right before everything gets covered up!

🏗️ LEICESTER EXTENSION | ROOF COMPLETE!

Another major milestone on our 37m² single-storey extension in Leicester!

From exposed blockwork to a fully waterproofed flat roof, here’s what’s been completed:

Timber joists and noggins installed to form the roof structure.

Firring strips fitted to create the necessary fall for rainwater drainage.

Plywood decking, membrane and rigid insulation installed, with joints carefully taped and a final layer of plywood fitted.

Waterproof roof covering completed, alongside the roof edge detailing, fascia and guttering.

Every layer plays an important role in creating a strong, insulated and weather-resistant roof. It’s the details behind the finished product that matter most!

🏗️ LEICESTER PROJECT UPDATE

Another productive stage completed on the Leicester extension.

The insulation is now installed, with the window frame and sill fitted and in place.

We’ve also been working on the underfloor heating, setting out the pipe layout ready for the next stage of the floor build-up.

We’ve installed Fastwarm to control the underfloor heating system and keep the temperature managed efficiently.

🔥 Fastwarm are supplying the underfloor heating system for this project, helping us get the heating infrastructure in place before the floor is finished.

LEICESTER PROJECT UPDATE 🧱

Another big stage completed on the Leicester extension.

The roof structure is now complete, with the insulation installed and plywood fitted over the top as part of the cold roof construction.

We then had our roofer on site to complete the GRP/fibreglass roofing system, getting the extension fully weatherproof and ready for the next stages.

Inside, we’ve also started forming the stud wall for the new en-suite.

Next up, we’ll be removing the existing kitchen and getting started on the underfloor heating.

This will include the DPM, insulation, fully taped insulation joints and the underfloor heating pipework before the next floor build-up.

Another few stages ticked off and the extension is really starting to take shape.

🏠 ROOF STRUCTURE TAKING SHAPE

Another big stage completed on this project as we move onto the roofing structure.

The team installed the roof joists, cutting the timbers to the required angle to form the incline of the roof, before fitting the noggins to strengthen and stabilise the structure.

From there, plywood was installed across the roof deck, with the joints and gaps sealed before the waterproof membrane was laid over the top.

The membrane provides a protective weatherproof layer, with the roof now prepared for the next stage — installing the insulation.

Another step closer to getting this extension watertight and moving onto the next phase. 🔨

LEICESTER PROJECT UPDATE 🧱

The brickwork and blockwork is now complete up to this stage, including the insulated cavity to the extension.

The structure is really starting to take shape now and you can see the footprint of the new space coming together.

I wasn’t on site for this part of the build, so we haven’t got as much process footage as usual, but the lads have grafted and got the walls up ready for the next stage.

Next up: the roofing structure. 👀

🏗️ LEICESTER PROJECT UPDATE | GROUND FLOOR PREPARATION

Following on from getting our brickwork and blockwork up to DPC level, we’ve moved onto preparing the ground floor build-up inside the new extension.

The area was brought to the required levels and prepared in stages, including hardcore and sand, with gravel/shingle around the drainage pipework before everything was levelled and compacted ready for the next stage.

Once the preparation was complete, the DPM (damp proof membrane) was installed before the concrete floor slab was poured across the extension.

Another important stage ticked off. ✅

🪨 Hardcore & sand laid and levelled
🔧 Pipework protected with shingle
💧 DPM installed
🏗️ Concrete slab poured

The concrete now gives us a solid base ready for the next stages of the floor build-up and eventual screed.

It might not be the most glamorous part of an extension, but getting everything underneath the finished floor right is just as important as what you eventually see on top.

🏗️ PROJECT UPDATE | BRICKWORK & BLOCKWORK UNDERWAY

Good graft from the lads on this one.👏

We’ve now started bringing the extension up from the foundations, getting the brickwork and blockwork built up to DPC level.

🧱 210 blocks laid
🧱 370 bricks laid
⏱️ All wrapped up by 1:00pm

A proper shift from everyone on site and good progress made. When the lads put the graft in, it deserves recognising, so we finished the day with a few pizzas and some beers for the team to take home. 🍕🍺

Next step is continuing to bring this extension out of the ground and watching the project really start taking shape.
