The proposals include the demolition of the existing garage, a two-storey side extension and a single-storey rear extension, alongside updated windows, render and roof coverings to give the property a fresh new look.

🏡 What does it take to turn a vision for a new home into a considered architectural design?

We’re sharing a first look at our proposed self-build bungalow in a Northampton village.

Every project starts with understanding both the client’s vision and the planning requirements. For this scheme, that meant creating a home that reflects the client’s preferences while responding to the character of the neighbouring properties and the open, landscaped setting.

The design brings together traditional pitched roofs, feature gables, red brick and light render to create a timeless look, with a practical layout designed around modern, single-storey living. ✨

Getting the balance right between what our clients want and what the site and planning requirements allow is a big part of what we do at Idea Architectural Technology.

Not a photograph… 👀

This is one of our latest visuals for a development of four new-build, Georgian-inspired terraced homes, and the build started on site this week.

Our client purchased the site with planning permission already in place, and we’ve been brought in to take the project through the Building Regulations and construction drawing stage, working alongside the Structural Engineer to develop the design into a coordinated, buildable scheme.

It’s been a challenging project to coordinate. The four homes form part of a much larger development incorporating commercial units, parking, access and site-wide drainage, so making sure all of the different elements tied together was crucial.

Alongside the technical and construction information, we’ve also developed and submitted the detailed information required to discharge the planning conditions, including:

• Materials and external finishes
• Architectural detailing, windows, doors and rainwater goods
• Meter boxes and external services
• Boundary treatments and landscaping
• External lighting
• Residential bin stores

We’ve loved working on this one, taking an approved scheme and developing it into the detailed information needed to actually get it built.

NEW DWELLING | BRIXWORTH, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE 🏡
A look at a new dwelling we have designed for a site in Brixworth, Northamptonshire.
The design combines traditional materials and detailing with a contemporary approach, creating a home that feels both timeless and modern.
The proposals include generous areas of glazing, carefully considered roof forms and strong connections between the living spaces and the garden, with solar panels incorporated into the roof design.
We love seeing how the design comes together in these visuals, particularly the contrast between the warm brickwork and natural slate.

Sometimes it’s the visuals that bring a project to life before a single brick is laid.

We’re excited to share these stunning photorealistic renders of our latest residential development in a Northamptonshire village, comprising the conversion of two traditional barns alongside three carefully designed new dwellings.

Having now completed the full design package, we’re preparing to submit the planning application and look forward to taking the project into the next stage of its journey.

The scheme has been carefully developed to respect the character of its rural setting while delivering high-quality contemporary homes that complement the existing landscape.

From tired and dated to elegant and expansive ✨

This exciting residential renovation and extension project started with a property full of potential. While the house required a complete transformation, one major advantage was the unusually large side garage that extended deep into the rear garden.

By intelligently utilising this existing footprint, we were able to design a substantial extension that maximises living space while creating a luxurious and sophisticated new appearance.

The transformation will see the home evolve from a 3-bedroom property into a spacious 4-bedroom family home, complete with a dressing room and ensuite to the principal bedroom. On the ground floor, generous open-plan living areas are complemented by a separate snug, providing flexible spaces for modern family life.

A perfect example of how thoughtful design can unlock hidden potential and create a home that’s both beautiful and practical.

What an incredible achievement for the Ise Lodge Eagles U13s! 🦅⚽️🏆

We are so proud to sponsor such a fantastic group of young players who have officially been crowned LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

This team is so much more than just talented footballers — they are a true group of friends who work tirelessly for each other, support one another, and play with real passion, determination and team spirit every single week. Winning the league with TWO games still left to play is an amazing accomplishment and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and togetherness shown throughout the season.

A huge congratulations must also go to the coaches, whose dedication, encouragement and belief in every player has helped create something really special. The positive environment they have built allows every child to grow not only as footballers, but as individuals too — and that deserves enormous recognition.

And of course, well done to all the parents and families behind the scenes for the endless lifts, support from the sidelines, muddy boots, early mornings and constant encouragement throughout the season. Grassroots football simply wouldn’t happen without you.

This beautiful 1920’s home in Northampton already had incredible character — our role was simply to help it work better for modern family life.
By adding a carefully considered rear extension, we’ve transformed what was once a small kitchen into a balanced open-plan kitchen, lounge and entertaining space, full of light and connection to the garden.
The new addition also helps bring harmony to the rear elevation, sitting comfortably alongside the existing glass lean-to while respecting the original architecture of the house.
Sometimes the smallest changes unlock the biggest transformations.
