Our mission to restore various historic stuff continues. This year, our focus has shifted back toward smaller projects and high-impact visits. Doors fit this category well as do strange shaped casements.

Due to the hot summer, we have completed far less finish decorating work than normal. However, this has allowed us to focus on major repairs, which is where we truly thrive.

They don't get much bigger than this! It needed a replacement sill & transom, the sashes were repairable and took an age to strip back. All the old paint was gently removed and many repairs made here. Some fun was had cutting the arch glass in and getting it square enough to function properly.

This year marks 20 years restoring sash windows! How did that happen???

In 2007, two decorators had a vision to do something new. The "credit crunch" impacted us hard and we had to think differently to survive. With support from friends and family, the transition began.

Fast forward 20 years and our industry faces new pressure as house prices flat line, costs keep rising and and traditional skills deplete. Budgets naturally tighten and again, we must react to survive.

Historic and listed buildings continue to decay and do not care about budgets or estimates. That is why we are changing the way we present our options.

Full restoration (including decoration) remains our signature service. We will begin to introduce some stand alone options for draught proofing or simply just for essential repairs only. We will phase the larger jobs to increase our general availability. The aim is to provide value choices that will suit more budgets. There will be no compromise on quality.

We are all very happy at how this one has turned out. It has been a long winter project and it's a relief to push this over the finishing line.

It ranks as one of our most challenging projects yet as we took on far more than just the windows here! So on we go to our next listed building in need, it's a Scottish baronial style Manor house with turning tower turrets.

Booking is way off into 2026 at the moment but get in touch if you want to plan anything in.

This time we got to transform the frontage of this beautiful townhouse. The bay has been extremely challenging due to poor previous repairs and historical rot so we just replicated approximately 75% of it! Thanks to Roger Coe joinery for producing us the components perfectly & Glass Northampton on the laminate cutting. I think my client needs a medal for tackling this.

Technical bit:

Glass - 6.4mm Laminated glass puttied on Repair Care dry seal MP (There's no better option for engineered glass). Sound reduction & security benefits.

Insulation - It's rare we can apply it but the panels are backed with 50mm Celotex GA4050. The cavity it filled was acting to amplify noise and was over ventilating (causing major internal drafts) upstairs.

Timber - Everything produced has been treated extensively to prevent future rot issues manifesting. Remaining original timbers get full treatment also. Grade A timber only. Fitted using Repair Care 4 HR resin and finished in Zinsser Allcoat, satin black. Every detail is captured.

I've completed many bay windows in my time but nothing like this before! I'm extremely proud of this one and I simply couldn't have done it without the close support I get from my partner's. I don't own an old house myself... but this is the bay I'd want.

Here's a bay we have been working on for a few weeks now. It's been testing at times as it's more than a normal for us. All the panels and legs have been renewed, many of the sashes replicated and the whole sill section had to be replaced. We managed to get 50mm of insulation behind the panels for added sound reduction & energy savings. Glazed in 6.4mm laminated. Client chosen Matt black finish 🖤

Every year we visit and restore a few more windows. This time was the turn of the top 3 sashes and the old front door frame. The frame took 20 major splices and all windows needed replacement sills, lower box rebuild (L&R) & new bottom rails. To top it off they all had shutters so we adjusted them to work properly. Phew!

Door and frame finished in F&B (Actually it's Zinsser All Coat) colour - Pigeon. Windows in Dulux Opaque colour - Gardenia. The paint stripped back and treatment, preserve all. Built up using repair care resin 4hr, Drycure MP putty. Hard as nails "like for like" repairs perfectly furnished... It's all we do.
