It's not something everyone thinks of when they stay in a lodge or pod with a hot tub!

Legionella thrives in warm water, typically between 20°C and 45°C, and hot tubs often operate within this temperature range.

This is why it is important to regularly test them.

Our team has recently been out on site in Gloucester, carrying out Legionella sampling and testing across six hot tubs for one client, to ensure the company is compliant and guests remain protected from the risk of Legionella.

Do you know what incidents need to be reported under RIDDOR (the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations)?

RIDDOR sets out which workplace incidents must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

These include:
✔️ Certain specified injuries, such as fractures (excluding fingers, thumbs and toes), amputations and serious burns
✔️ Diagnosed work-related diseases
✔️ Dangerous occurrences, including incidents involving lifting equipment, pressure systems and other serious near-misses

Reporting these incidents isn't just a legal requirement – it helps the HSE identify trends, investigate serious events and improve workplace safety across industries.
