Is your chimney ready for spring? 🐦🏠

As the weather warms up, bird-nesting season is officially starting! While we love nature, your chimney is the last place you want a bird to call home.

We came across this last week: a massive pile of twigs blocking an open flue gas appliance. This is a major safety hazard because:

It blocks dangerous carbon monoxide from escaping.

It creates a serious fire risk.

It can cause your appliance to fail or spill fumes back into your home.

Don’t wait until you try to turn the heating on! If you have an open flue gas appliance, now is the time to get it checked and ensure your chimney is clear and protected with a bird guard.

Stay safe! 🛠️🔥

When was your last boiler service? 🛡️

A gas boiler is the hardest working appliance in your home, but because it’s usually tucked away in a cupboard, it’s easy to forget. If it isn't maintained, it can become a hidden danger.
Since modern boilers are sealed units, you can’t always see the "warning signs" like soot or flame color. That makes a professional inspection even more vital to catch leaks or Carbon Monoxide (CO) issues before they start.

3 Modern signs your boiler needs a professional look:

1️⃣ Frequent Resets: If you’re constantly having to "restart" the boiler because of error codes.
2️⃣ Losing Pressure: If you find yourself topping up the water pressure gauge every few weeks.
3️⃣ New Noises: Any whistling, vibrating, or banging sounds when the heating kicks in.

🔥 Keep Your Home Safe This Season! 🔥

Did you know that traditional gas fires are classified as open flue appliances?

This means they rely on your chimney to safely carry away the exhaust gases. It is incredibly important to ensure those fumes are going up the chimney and not spilling back into your living space.

⚠️ Why does this matter?

If your chimney is blocked or not pulling the air correctly, dangerous gases—including deadly Carbon Monoxide (CO)—can enter your room. Carbon monoxide is invisible, tasteless, and odorless, making it a true silent killer.

✅ How to stay safe:

--Book an annual service: Have your gas fire and chimney checked by a qualified gas professional every year to ensure it is venting correctly.

--Get an alarm: Ensure you have a working Carbon Monoxide detector in the same room as your gas fire.

Don't take chances with your family's safety! If it's been a while since your last check, make an appointment today. 🏡💨
