Turn off and flush outdoor water systems and hoses and store them. Winterize any sprinkler systems as well, if you have them.
Get your chimney cleaned. Make sure it’s done once per year.
Test sump pump. Finding out it’s not working is painful.
Check driveway/pavement for cracks. Make sure to have re-sealed before freeze; water will freeze and expand in the cracks, causing more damage.
Have sidewalk salt, good shovels, ready for winter. You never know when that first snow will come!

Winter Guide #6
Flush water heater and remove sediment. This prolongs the life of the heater and helps with efficiency.
Remove and store window units. If you have central air, cover the outside unit with a tarp or plastic sheeting and secure with bungee cords. This will help during freezing temperatures.
-Check for any leaks in windows or doors; these can cose mold. Make sure heating vents are open and not blocked. Get furnace inspected at least every year. As with the AC, this in not a huge expense. Don’t forget about fireplaces if you have them.

Christmas Day
We will go with the flow, see our prep for today !

9.30am: Stuff the turkey, calculate cooking time. Heat oven to 190C/fan.
10am: Put the turkey in to roast.

11am & 12pm: Check the roasting tin- add more cider if needed.

12.30pm: Remove the foil to let it brown.

1pm: Leave the turkey to rest. Put the potatoes in the oven to roast, if frozen (if not, put in at 1.10pm). Make the gravy.

1.30pm: Turn oven up to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Turn the potatoes and add the stuffing roll to oven to reheat.

1.45pm: Reheat the apples, pears and shallots in the oven if room, or in the microwave if not, adding a little extra glaze. Cover the parsnip bake with foil and put into the oven to reheat. Finish sprouts, carrots, cabbage and cranberry sauce. Take foil off the stuffing roll.

2pm: Serve and enjoy! Warm the pudding in the oven’s residual heat while you eat.

Winter Guide Lesson 2
Test your electricity if you can. Always be extra careful when working with electricity. You can do a couple things by your self. Check that all outlets work; if they don’t, you can ask professional to fix them. Also, test your GFCI outlets. There are different opinions on how often to test this. Some say monthly, others say annually and I say as often as you feel the need but not lees then a once a year!

What maintenance should you do in your House during Winter time? I will answer your questions in my guide during the Winter sezon.
Lesson 1:
Regularly check for ice dams and icicles. De-icing cables that sit at the front of the roof work well. Don’t let icicles grow, as much as the kids may want you to. They’re not only a danger to people standing beneath them, but they’re incredibly heavy and can cause damage to your home. They also can cause water damage to your foundation when they melt.

They have been a popular flooring solution for centuries, from wooden floors in medieval castles to Versailles parquet. They're usually made of real wood, but other options like laminate or vinyl are also available. There are several factors that determine how long it takes to paint. If the walls are in good condition and do not require any corrections, and the room is well ventilated (the paint dries up quickly), there is a chance that we will get everything done in one day. Painting on the so-called box, i.e. covering the ceiling and walls with the same color. Much depends on experience. If the walls require preparation (removal of wallpaper or old paint, plastering, priming, etc.), painting the room may take several days. It all depends on what kind of damage we are dealing with.
