**Free** CPD Webinars for Electricians and Contractors: Plugged In
Staying on top of regulations, compliance and industry changes isn’t easy when you’re also trying to get jobs finished, quote new work and run a business. That’s the gap Plugged In is designed to fill.
Plugged In is a new series of free CPD webinars from AWEBB, our buying group, built for electricians, contractors and installers who need useful training without the hassle of getting to it.
What Is Plugged In?
Plugged In is AWEBB’s new monthly webinar programme for people working in the electrical industry. Each session brings in manufacturers, suppliers and industry specialists to cover practical information contractors can actually use on site, not product demos or sales pitches.
Topics will include:
• Electrical regulations and legislation
• Compliance requirements
• Changes to industry standards
• Installation best practice
• Technical guidance
• Safety and regulatory updates
• New and developing areas of the electrical industry
• Practical advice for contractors and installers
CPD That Fits Around the Working Day
Traditional CPD often means travel, lost working hours or giving up an evening. Plugged In is built differently: short, focused lunchtime sessions delivered online, so you can fit useful training around the working day.
What to expect:
• Short lunchtime webinars that fit around work
• Practical, relevant information for electricians and contractors
• Expert led sessions from recognised industry specialists
• CPD certified learning where applicable
• Online access with no travelling required
• Free registration for contractors and installers
• Education first, not product led sales presentations
In short: grab some lunch, open Microsoft Teams and pick up some useful CPD at the same time.
Who Is It For?
Plugged In has been created for professionals working in the electrical trade, including:
• Electricians
• Electrical contractors
• Electrical installers
• Fire and security installers
• Electrical business owners
• Project managers and supervisors
• Apprentices and engineers looking to build their industry knowledge
Whether you want to keep on top of regulation changes, sharpen your technical knowledge or just confirm you’re following current best practice, there should be something useful in the programme.
First Session: Domestic Fire and CO Compliance and Updates
The first Plugged In session is open for registration now and covers an area that affects every electrician working in the residential sector: domestic fire and carbon monoxide compliance.

What’s Covered
• Current domestic fire safety legislation
• Carbon monoxide compliance requirements

Why This CPD Matters
Domestic fire detection isn’t just about connecting an alarm. System design, alarm positioning, property type, applicable standards and changing legislation all affect what should be installed and how a compliant system should be designed.
Carbon monoxide protection matters too, particularly as legislation and guidance around CO alarms has developed in recent years. For contractors doing domestic electrical work, understanding the latest requirements helps keep installations safe, compliant and appropriate for the property. That’s exactly the kind of practical knowledge Plugged In has been built to provide.
Is It Really Free?
Yes. Contractors and installers can register for the webinar free of charge using the Microsoft Teams registration link above. The aim is to make relevant industry education and CPD more accessible across the AWEBB network, which we’re proud to be part of.
Will These Be Sales Pitches?
No. Sessions are delivered with recognised manufacturers and suppliers, but the focus stays educational rather than product led. The goal is practical knowledge you can apply in day to day work, not 45 minutes of your lunch spent sitting through an advert.
Is It CPD Certified?
The first session with AICO is CPD certified. Certification may vary for future sessions depending on subject, and we’ll confirm the details whenever a new Plugged In webinar is announced.
More Sessions on the Way
The AICO webinar is only the first in the series. AWEBB plans to run Plugged In monthly, with future sessions covering more of the regulations, compliance issues and technical developments affecting electricians and contractors.
