We are nearing the end of phase one on this project.
Install of a new MVHR system for Hectors House šāā¬
We can finally see the finish line!
Our new ventilation system in the main pen room is nearly finished, and although this has been a huge project behind the scenes, itās one we know will make such a difference for the future of the rescue.
Itās been incredibly eye opening. Reducing the number of cats we can safely take in while work has been carried out has shown us just how valuable every single pen space really is.
Every pen matters.
Every bit of safe isolation space matters.
Every decision about admissions becomes harder when you physically donāt have the room.
Itās heartbreaking knowing how many cats out there still need help. The strays. The injured. The abandoned. The mums and kittens. The cats people assume someone else will step in for. We have felt the weight of that every single day during this process.
But this system is being installed for a reason, and itās one of the most important investments we could make for the cats in our care.
Better ventilation means safer containment of illness and contamination risks, healthier environments for vulnerable cats and kittens, and ultimately a safer rescue overall for every future cat that comes through our doors.
Sometimes rescue work is the less glamorous side nobody really sees. Not just the cute kitten photos, but the building work, the difficult restrictions, the constant juggling, and making long term decisions that protect cats we havenāt even met yet.
We genuinely cannot wait to have the room fully operational again and be able to help more cats safely.
Thank you to everyone who has been patient, supportive, understanding, donated, fostered, shared posts, and stood by us while weāve worked through this.
Weāre nearly there!
