This tree was starting to outgrow its space, so we carried out a crown reduction to bring it back to a more suitable size for its location.

The before and after shows the difference, the same tree, with a little more room around it. 🌳

Well done to Max and his team 💚

Flailbot Friday 🌿

We hired this Flailbot from Elmstar Arboriculture & Grounds Care Specialists to tackle grass cutting and mulch wood piles, here it is getting stuck into both.

Something a little different from the usual tree work!

A busy summer on Devon’s highways, and a job well done by Tristan 👏🌳

Tristan has now completed our summer highway tree inspections for Devon County Council, finishing on schedule and doing a great job along the way.

It’s an important part of our work at Devon Tree Services, helping to assess the County’s tree stock next to the busy highways!

Thanks for your hard work, Tristan, a great effort and something to be proud of.

Before and after - a weeping beech reduction in Torquay, taking it back to its previous pruning points.

The tree is protected, so we also handled the application process for the client before completing the work, keeping things straightforward from start to finish 🌲💚🌳

Froback Friday 🌳 otherwise known as a look back through the archives!

Back to 2014, when we dismantled this beech tree using a crane. A full day’s work condensed into one time-lapse. Here’s the team in action.

A beech tree removal at RHS Rosemoor last week, but this wasn’t a straightforward fell.

Following an independent survey, the tree was reduced to just above the main stem union, with the remaining stump retained as a standing habitat monolith. 🌳

Where it is safe and appropriate to do so, leaving part of a tree in place can provide valuable habitat for invertebrates, fungi, birds and other wildlife for many years to come.

Great work by the team in challenging conditions and a brilliant outcome for the gardens.

Daniel, our Managing Arboricultural Consultant, is taking on the Arc of Attrition in January, a gruelling 50-mile run along the South West Coast Path.

Daniel loves running nearly as much as he loves our trees! 🌳🏃

He is taking on this huge challenge to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a cause that means a great deal to Daniel and his family. With a family history of MND, and as a big rugby fan, he is proud to support the rugby community’s shared mission to create a world free from MND.

This will not be an easy challenge, but it is nothing compared with the daily challenges faced by people living with MND and the families around them.

We are incredibly proud of Daniel for pushing himself for such an important cause.

If you are able to donate, every contribution, no matter the size, will help fund vital MND research, care and support.

Please support Daniel’s challenge here:

Good luck, Daniel, the whole Devon Tree Services team is behind you. 💙
