A nice job completed for the lovely Sid and Jean over in Bletchley this week!

Sid actually built this pond himself back in the 90s, so it’s been going strong for over 30 years! Unfortunately, the original liner had started leaking in several places, so it was time for a much-needed replacement.

💦 Here’s what I got up to:

✅ Removed the old 30+ year liner and installed a brand new one.

✅ Safely removed and temporarily housed all the fish while work was carried out.

✅ Installed a flow control valve on the waterfall pipework. The powerful pump previously sent water blasting out of the outlet, but now the flow can be adjusted perfectly!

✅ Repaired and securely refitted the pond’s electrical switch control box back onto the wall after it had fallen off.

✅ Installed a brand new protective net to help keep those pesky herons away!

🐟 And the biggest surprise of all?

We counted an unbelievable 313 fish! 🤯 Neither Sid nor Jean expected quite that many hiding away in there!

The pond is now back together, the fish are happily swimming around in their new surroundings, and hopefully Sid and Jean can enjoy their pond for many more years to come!

Some VERY satisfying pond vacuuming in Willen today! 💦👌

This smaller section of the pond was originally an overflow from the main koi pond. After the blanket w**d had been treated, there was plenty of leftover sediment and debris sitting on the bottom — so it was definitely ready for a proper clean out!

As well as giving it a thorough vacuum, I fully backwashed and serviced the Oase ScreenMatic 140000 filter, cleaned and serviced both pumps and replaced the UV bulbs.

I also found a broken quartz sleeve inside the Filtral 9000, so that was replaced and everything was checked over and running as it should. ✅

Another happy customer and a pond ready for the colder months!

This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the final reveal of the Horwood House pond! 🐟💚

After a week of draining the pond, clearing years of sludge, drilling through the wall and installing the new pipework and filter, it was time to fill it up and switch everything on.

Both returns are flowing, the filter is running, and the fish are back home. Seeing the pond come together after such a huge week feels incredible. I’m so happy with the result!

Horwood House filter install — Day 5! 💧

The pressure was on today. The water bowsers were due at 4pm, and I still had pipework to finish before the pond could be filled.

I needed three hosetails to make the final connections, which meant a dash to Wellingborough to get them. After the week we’ve had with the core drilling and tracking down the right fittings, I wasn’t letting three small parts hold up the water delivery!

I got back, finished the connections, and the bowsers arrived. Seeing the water finally going back into the pond was such a good moment after all the work that’s gone into it this week.

Tomorrow is the final day, and trust me, you don’t want to miss the finished result. It looks epic. 👀🐟

Day 4 at Horwood House, and the core drilling put up a fight! 🥵

After a broken bit and a lot more drilling than I’d planned, I finally got the two holes through the pond wall. The flanges are in, and now the pressure’s on to finish the pipework.

Will I get it done before the water delivery at 4pm on Day 5? 👀

Horwood House – Day 3 👊🏼

Day 3 of the filter install… and this old pond definitely wasn’t giving up without a fight 😂

The plan was to get the holes through the 120-year-old pond wall ready for the new filtration pipework. After hours of core drilling, the bit finally gave up before I did. 😅

So… will I actually get the holes finished tomorrow? 🤦🏻‍♂️

First job is finding a new core bit, then the pressure is REALLY on. I need to get as much of the pipework and filtration connected as possible because Day 5 the water is coming on — ready or not! 💦😬

Horwood House Filter Install – Day 2 💪

Day 2 and things are really starting to take shape!

With the pond now empty, the groundwork team were cracking on with the new filter pit while I started getting everything ready for the new filtration and pipework.

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes on this one, with groundworks, electrics and myself all working together to get this huge old pond properly filtered for the first time.

Still a long way to go, but we’re getting there 👊

I pulled the plug on a 120-year-old pond… 😬

And that’s only Day 1!

You’ve seen me at Horwood House before carrying out interim cleaning, but the plan was always to come back and install some proper filtration — and this week, it’s finally happening.

It’s a big one. We’ve got one week to get it done, with a groundwork team, electrical team and myself all working together to get everything installed and the pond back up and running.

Day 1 — time to get the water out and get stuck in. 💪🏼💧
