Another job finished, and this one's a real stunner! ✨

We recently completed this resin driveway at a beautiful old police station in Dymock. The client chose resin for its brilliant permeability (no puddles, no drainage headaches) and we love how it turned out. We picked a red fleck to tie in with the gorgeous red brick of the building. It just works so well together!

The job took three days from start to finish, including groundworks and installing recessed manhole covers so they sit flush and out of sight. Small details that make a big difference to the overall finish.

Looked after properly, a resin drive like this can last 20-25 years, and it's low maintenance too, just keep it clean and it'll keep looking as good as day one.

What a cracking day out on the greens! ⛳

Huge thanks to Bence Building Supplies for putting on their annual golf day at Brickhampton Golf Course. 18 holes, glorious weather, and even better company. Add in a big BBQ and a few drinks to finish off, and what a fantastic day out.

Project Spotlight: Master Suite Bungalow Extension

Located in Upton upon Severn, this project is a great example of how an extension does not always have to be about adding huge amounts of space. Sometimes, a relatively modest addition and some thoughtful reconfiguration can completely transform how a home works.

The property originally featured an ageing conservatory positioned in the centre of the rear elevation. This was demolished and replaced with a new extension built on a similar footprint, with the aim of creating a more practical and luxurious master bedroom arrangement.

One of the existing bedrooms in the bungalow was simply too small to function effectively. There was limited space for furniture and storage, and the layout was not making the best use of the available floorplan.

By replacing the conservatory with a new extension and reconfiguring the internal layout, we created a spacious new double bedroom alongside a dedicated dressing room. The former small bedroom was transformed into a bespoke dressing area complete with built-in wardrobes and a vanity unit, allowing the bedroom itself to remain uncluttered and feel like a true master suite.

The result is a home that feels significantly more spacious and practical without requiring a large extension. Dedicated storage, improved flow and a much more comfortable bedroom have completely changed how the property is used.

Completed in around eight weeks, this project demonstrates how intelligent design can often deliver just as much impact as additional square footage.

Project Spotlight: Conservatory Transformation and Open Plan Extension

📍Lea, Ross on Wye

This project demonstrates how replacing an outdated conservatory with a thoughtfully designed extension can completely transform the way a home is used.

The property originally featured an old conservatory at the rear of the house that had become impractical. Like many conservatories, it was too hot during the summer months and too cold throughout winter, meaning it was rarely used to its full potential.

The homeowners wanted to create a more functional living space that could be enjoyed all year round, while also improving the flow between the kitchen, dining area and the rest of the home. The existing conservatory was removed and replaced with a fully insulated extension, built on a similar footprint but designed to feel much more connected to the property.

A large roof lantern was incorporated into the design to flood the room with natural light, while bifold doors open onto the garden, creating a seamless connection between the inside and outside spaces.

Internally, the extension has transformed the layout of the home. By opening up and connecting what were previously separate rooms, the new space now functions as a free-flowing family hub where cooking, dining and relaxing can all happen together. The improved layout allows everyone to remain connected, whether preparing meals in the kitchen or spending time in the living area.

The project also included extensive landscaping works, featuring a porcelain patio that complements the rendered extension and creates an attractive outdoor entertaining space.

The result is a warm, practical and versatile extension that has completely changed how the homeowners use their property, replacing an underused conservatory with a bright and sociable space designed for modern family living.

Project Spotlight: Cottage Extension with Character 🏡

This Bull's Hill project near Ross-on-Wye was all about creating more living space without breaking the budget, the young couple even tackled some finishing work themselves.

We removed the old lean-to to make room for a new entrance hall, porch, utility room, WC, and a bigger kitchen diner, all designed to tie in with the property's existing extension on the other side.

It wasn't easy going. Before we could even start building, we had to excavate a huge bank, create a machinery platform right next to the house, and dig out several massive boulders. Tough start, but worth it.

To give the place some cottage charm, we clad it in bespoke larch feather-edge boards, hand-profiled with a subtle waney edge for that natural character look.

Eight weeks (and a few weather delays) later, the job was done. Years on, the timber's weathered beautifully and the landscaping's matured, with those countryside views, it's aged like a dream. 😍

Thinking about a renovation or extension?

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make is waiting too long to speak to a builder.

A lot of people only start contacting builders once they have planning approved and are ready to begin, but by that stage, the best builders are often booked months in advance.

At the moment, we’re seeing enquiries coming in for projects people want started within weeks, but quality construction projects require forward planning, scheduling, and coordination long before work begins on site.

For larger projects especially, it’s worth speaking to a builder early in the process, ideally when you’re beginning to think seriously about:

• Extensions
• Renovations
• Garden rooms
• Structural alterations
• Landscaping projects
• High end bespoke builds

Why engage a builder early?
• Get realistic timelines from the start
• Avoid disappointment with availability
• Discuss budgets before designs are finalised
• Coordinate planning and buildability together
• Gain advice on materials and construction methods
• Allow time for specialist suppliers and trades

One of the comparisons raised recently was with heating and renewable energy systems. Many homeowners only start thinking about heating upgrades when the weather turns colder in autumn, meaning everyone is trying to book installers at the same time.

Construction works in a very similar way. The earlier conversations happen, the smoother the entire process becomes.

We’d always rather have honest conversations about timing and capacity upfront, rather than rush projects or compromise on quality later down the line.
