“An extraordinary urban garden with ground-breaking environmental credentials.”

In July 2026, Grosvenor Square was reopened to the public following a radical redesign.
The most significant private investment in public green space in a generation. The transformed square has been designed to demonstrate how green spaces in cities can work harder for nature, and the wellbeing of those who rely on them.

Supplying Maylim Limited, the project has offered a great opportunity to showcase our range of products, with the following materials included:
BS3882 Certified Topsoil
10/20mm LECA
0-10mm Composted Bark
Lawn Topsoil
2-6mm Shingle
Washed Sand Subsoil
Structural Subsoil Sand
0-13mm Biochar
Woodland Amenity Mulch
Free Draining Subsoil

Featuring 150,000 new plants and bulbs, 44 new trees and new wetlands, designs for the square pay homage to the original 1720s design, reinstating an oval shaped lawn, framed by a new footpath and a surrounding woodland garden.

Soil health has been a key consideration throughout this project. After decades of heavy foot traffic, the soil profile was in poor condition with significant compaction. The soil has since been de-compacted, aerated and fed, with a layer of our BS3882 Certified Topsoil and Biochar added on top.

Our Lawn Topsoil has been for the central lawn, along with the grass ‘social ovals’, surrounded by planting - forming an important element within the vision for the garden - designed by BDP, and renowned horticulturalists Nigel Dunnett and Gary Grant.

Working closely with Maylim, Tim O’Hare Associates, and the wider project team, our role has been to ensure the soil structure, nutrient profile and organic content support both immediate establishment of the planting and long-term performance.

It has been a privilege supplying such a prestigious project. Thanks to Maylim Limited and Gareth Kinsella for taking the time to show us around on multiple occasions. Congratulations on completion!

One of our special livery trucks bringing High Permeability Bio Retention Soil and a splash of green to the urban jungle! Thankful for a change in the weather as we supplied O’Halloran & O’Brien at the Apex One development, Nine Elms Battersea.

Our Washed Sand Subsoil and High Permeability Bio Retention Soil are being used for the ground levels SuDS scheme around the main building, to be followed by our Intensive Lightweight Subsoil and Topsoil for podium planting.

Our High Permeability Bio Retention soil has been designed for use in high density urban areas such as this, acting as a filtration medium to help control water flow rates, and reduce the environmental impact of flooding while allowing for maximum pollutant removal, all in line with CIRIA guidelines.

Thank you to driver Josef for keeping the wheels moving and *extra* shiny!

Great to revisit NAO Landscapes Ltd at Le Shuttle terminal, Folkestone.

Since November 2025, we’ve been supplying the team with our: Cockleshells, 4/10mm Marine Shingle, 50/50 blend of John Innes and Peat Free Compost, BS8601 Subsoil, 0/2mm Building Sand, Ornamental Bark and Premium Blended Topsoil.

Our materials have been used within the new planters surrounding the terminal entrance, car parks, new purpose-built EES building, for trees and planting around the Le Shuttle sign, and for adding planting to existing structures such as new hanging ivy along the roadside. In some areas our soils have been used directly for the new planting and others combined with existing soils on site.

“LeShuttle (formerly Eurotunnel) is undergoing a major, five-year “once-in-a-generation” upgrade of its UK (Folkestone) and French (Calais) terminals. This redevelopment aims to modernise the experience, incorporating new infrastructure to manage post-Brexit Entry/Exit System (EES) requirements, which involves significant changes to the car park and, by extension, landscaping.”

Look out for the fantastic new planting on your next trip across the channel!
Thanks to NAO for having us back again to visit.

Summer holiday ready - we recently supplied Commercial Services Group and Tonbridge and Malling Council with our RH65 Play Sand for the annual summer refresh at Tonbridge Racecourse Sports Ground.

Our free-draining and non-staining RH65 Sand, is a medium fine washed sports sand and certified to BS EN 71-3 and BS EN 1177 for use in children’s play areas.

To prevent waste, the team remove the previous year’s sand and spread it on the sports ground’s playing fields for added drainage. This is dependent on soil type and we usually recommend a topdressing sand such as our Medium Washed USGA silica sands, SS01 Sand or range of blended Rootzones.

“Belvedere Park transforms what was once an exposed, predominantly lawned space into a landscape that offers a strong sense of refuge and discovery for the community.“

Recent revisit to Maylim Limited during the final stages of work at the now complete, Belvedere Park, East Village, Stratford.

Great to see the rain gardens and trees being planted up and doing well despite recent high temperatures! Our Rain Garden Subsoil and Rain Garden Topsoil have been installed here, along with our 14mm Staffordshire Pink Aggregate and 18-35mm Pine Ornamental Bark (supplied in 60ltr bags). Elsewhere our Neutral pH Topsoil and 10mm Greenwaste Compost (supplied in 20kg bags) have been used.

Designed by Grant Associates, the new 0.62-hectare Belvedere Park has been conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the English garden. Trellis arches with climbing plants frame the main entrances, with vibrant planting, play spaces, new trees, perennial shrubs and street furniture.

A new community garden will form another key feature of the park, encouraging local participation and everyday interaction. Raised planters have been designed to support accessibility for disabled users, while nitrogen-fixing clover planting and pollinator-friendly perennial species will help strengthen biodiversity and seasonal interest throughout the year.

Originally designed and constructed as the Olympic Village for the 2012 Summer Olympics, East Village has been converted for use as a new residential district, complete with shops, bars and restaurants.

Thanks to Maylim for having us to visit again - another fantastic project completed!

Revisiting O’Halloran & O’Brien at The Willowbury, West Malling with deliveries of our Free-Draining Subsoil and BS3882 Blended Topsoil.

Fantastic to see all the progress since our last visit back in April, with the ponds and draining systems now in place and planting doing well despite the heat.

Our popular Premium Blended Topsoil is available screened to either 5mm or 10mm and combines PAS100 green waste compost and meets the BS3882 multipurpose standard, with year-round testing to ensure quality.

Our Loamy Sand Subsoil is single-sourced, screened, free-draining and regularly tested by UKAS laboratories, giving peace of mind to large contractors.

In October 2025 we supplied our Low Fertility Topsoil to Regents Park.

The gardens team have since created stunning lakeside wildflower meadows in the Japanese Garden - set within Queen Mary’s Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden features an island with a waterfall, bridges and sculptures, sprawling wisteria on the wooden bridge, bright yellow irises, Japanese maples and weeping cherry blossom.

After success using our Low Fertility Topsoil (TS5) elsewhere in the park, the team returned to us with requirements for this new project.
Most commonly used for wildflower planting and seeding to ensure minimal competition from weeds, our TS5 is tested to BS3882:2015 Low Fertility parameters, and is available across the country in loose loads, bulk bags and smaller 20kg units.

We love to see a successful before and after, especially when it’s teeming with pollinators!
