Kenward's have just completed another fantastic project in Shipley for West Sussex CC. We were tasked with removing an old, unsafe, out of use footbridge and installing a new bridge, upgrading the specification to allow for horse riders. This involved meticulous planning, working closely with the Environmental Agency to protect the surrounding ground, vegetation and watercourse. Our team of civil engineers and carpenters carefully deconstructed the old timber structure and removed the 12.5m steel girders. We then constructed new concrete abutments, fitted longer 14m steel girders and installed sustainably sourced oak decking and handrails. The final touch was new approach ramps and oak parapets. The result is a structure that complements the landscape, provides walkers and horse riders with a safe crossing, and affords them a fabulous view of the River Adur and the surrounding countryside!

Kenward's are engaged in works at Arbrook Farm in Esher. The project involves the renovation of outbuildings by carefully removing old tiles, repairing timber rafters and retiling. It also involves the demolition of 4 older barns and the construction of a new, steel framed barn, with cement fibre roof sheets, reinforced concrete floor and concrete and steel wall panels. Arbrook remains a working farm and equestrian centre, so traffic management and pedestrian and horse rider segregation are top priorities.

Kenward’s have recently completed the construction of a footbridge crossing the Upper Lake in the historical grounds of Clandon Park. This was a challenging location to work in, considering the narrow paths, limited access and the need to protect the surrounding environment. The project involved the demolition and removal of the existing timber bridge, that had rotted and partially collapsed. Once removed, we installed new steel girders with sustainably sourced oak decking and handrails. After two weeks, our team of expert civil engineers and carpenters completed the task and created a bridge that enhances the landscape, provides a platform for walkers to view the lake and guarantees safe crossing for decades to come.
